Tyler Roberts
« on: October 31, 2013, 09:51:56 PM »
Those of us who watched tonight's Victory Shield match between Wales and Scotland must have been impressed with another Albion Academy prospect Tyler Roberts, who led the Welsh line. He often had to plough a lone furrow up front but did remarkably well throughout and got Wales' second goal in a 2-2 draw in front of the Sky cameras. The commentator mentioned that Roberts has been working this week with the legendry Ian Rush, who had been very impressed with the tall Albion lad. There's hope on the horizon...

I recall him from when they faced England too. He went on a mazy run and ended up having a shot parried round for a corner.

Didn't get to see anymore of the game which was disappointing. Only saw around five minutes and in that time England were bossing the game by retaining possession - think the mazy effort he had come from England giving the ball away.

It was the first time I had ever heard of him.

With most of the top clubs in the country after him I think today was an effort to convince him to stay by suggesting he could get first team action soon. He does however seem very level headed for his age unlike some  ::)

Play him against Bristol City next week? I hope if we can get to 40 points sooner rather than later then Pulis will give some of the youngsters a run in the side.

What's his contract situation like? Do we potentially have another Yan Dhanda/Izzy Brown case on the horizon with him being bought by a big team for little amounts of money? Heard really good things about him and it's exciting having someone with huge potential coming through the academy.

Thought he and Leko signed pre contracts at end of last season? Both are massive talents and will be internationals if nurtered correctly.

Completely disagree about Leko, from what I've saw he doesn't have a football brain at all. Very selfish and doesn't know when to release it. Admittedly that can change with maturity. As for Roberts, he hadn't done that good for the under 21s. He would be way too lightweight for the premier league.

Brings me back to the Navi argument. Everyone loves a young player who's come through the ranks but no omegas really saw him play.

I don't see any of our under 21s progressing any time soon.

Is this the lad that was given the chance to train with the full Wales squad recently?

Very highly rated, has been on the bench before, the next Berahino in ability, lets hope not in temperament.

I'm not criticising but just thinking I haven't heard much about him this season.....no under 21 rave reviews, and not many goals unless I've missed something. Has he been injured ?

Pretty clear he wasn't going to get on yesterday so maybe just taking his turn at getting a taste of the match squad as Nabi and Leko have already done.

Not meaning to hijack the thread but surely Adil Nabi has done more then aroberts to deserve some time in the team.

There was mention that he was banned for the match as he was sent off in his final game in India.

Saw a tweet from Nabi that said due to the nature of his loan move, he won't be eligible again until after yesterdays game. So if Pulis does fancy him, maybe we might see him on Saturday (although Rondon suspension is up).

He definitely wasn't suspended, just unavailable. Believe he was still registered with Dehli until the window opened.

Last post about Nabi, just saw on his twitter that his paperwork is sorted and should be available for next game.
