Struggling or not sure whether to pay compensation for a manager always makes me laugh. The most important non playing role but we are not sure if we want to pay. We throw money away on Zohore or Burke but 2 million for a manager...that’s way to steep 😂
:D
It's like going out and having 10 beers at £3 a pop, then someone asks for a bag of crisps and it's " 80p, you having a laugh, I can get a 12 pack at Asda for £2"  8)

The analogy does not work at all the market place for footballers and coaches is entirely different. Clubs generally don't pay to get rid of players where they do to fire coaches. The money spent on coaches is nearly always wasted and they have zero resale value.

A deal for Valerien Ismael is ‘all but done’ to be appointed the next West Brom head coach.

Ismael has agreed terms with Albion Chiefs and are still in talks with Barnsley regarding his release clause, which Barnsley would want a fee of around £2million.

From a Twitter account ‘Baggies Account ‘ not to long ago .Not sure how reliable it is

His first press conference when he got the Barnsley Job is worth a little look, especially one of his former players was interviewed.

Thanks Gilsey, great video. I can’t lie, I’m really intrigued o see what he could do here with better players than at Barnsley. The football might be horrible at times but it sounds like it could have its moments.

I agree with your sentiments. I don’t think it will be boring! Get him in Albion.

Having watched Spain and to a lesser extent England over these past couple of weeks I have to say I’m excited about the prospect of some direct football. There is little more boring than possession based football.

The Spanish and to a degree English performances have reminded me a bit of the Simpsons take on Mexican soccer back in the 90’s 😁.

I agree, possession for possessions sake is just defensive football for teams with a better quality of player.

High pressure is way more fun so Ismael will be half way there, providing it doesn’t completely copy the Barnsley blue print which did seem to have way too many long balls and games of head tennis.

It's a gamble but one I'm willing to get behind.

I just hope the pathetic ownership and board back him.

Have they got a back bone?

Totally agree.  I enjoy watching Leeds play Bielsa's style of exciting football.  Dynamic, energetic, exciting.  The Barnsley style was not dissimilar.  It certainly wouldn't be dull.

Hoping for some progression today/Tomorrow.

Ideally we need him in ASAP. It'd been far too long already.

West Brom. Valerian Ismael. Compo deal with Barnsley should be sorted soon. Gap small at weekend … all sides need it resolved.

Saw on the BBC that personal terms were agreed so just a matter of comp which it seems both sides are eager to get done.
You can only assume that Ken would've consulted Lai before going after Ismael as to avoid any problems from China.

Athletic backing Perce up. Good news. Time to crack on.

Valerien Ismael to Albion is now close. He's keen and compensation with Barnsley no longer an issue, so no obvious barrier to him being appointed in the next day or so. #WBA
