Sounds like every other game to me.

Difference being, in other games the fans of the team getting a football lesson from the world champions don't always sing their heads off & get behind their team!

2-0 and game over. Tournament over for the Irish.

Shay Given has been woeful and should rightly take the fault for the second, and he probably should of saved the first too.

he's supposed to be hampered by a knee injury! prehaps trappatoni does not think keiron westwood is up to the job.

I can understand him for playing Shay Given - He's Irelands best goalkeeper, but ultimately, some of the goals Ireland have conceded over this tournament so far have been due to his downfall. He's just made a fantastic save but its too late now when you're 2-0 down and can't get a touch of the ball.

A tournament every 10 years....spose they have to make the most of it.

A tournament every 10 years....spose they have to make the most of it.

Always the over achieving underdogs as apposed to the under achievers with high expectations like some other nations.

Oh well, no doubt the many thousands of fans will turn out against the Italians & cheer the team on regardless.

I would hope Trapattoni will give some of the other squad players a chance in the last game for a bit of experience.

Im just glad they've gone home, someone has to make the numbers up.

Fans dont win you football matches. Sing all night if they like, still going home  :D

TBF they haven't gone home as they have another game to play yet (oh dear) but like being an Albion fan, sometimes you are just not good enough & your cant live with the big boys.

Theres every chance that England might be going home after the group stages but that wont stop me cheering them on along with my English, Irish, NI & Asian friends, as much as I love my team I can also appreciate other teams & their fans.

Keith Andrews probably Ireland's best player again - had a sloppy period in middle of first half but most others had far longer sloppy moments. Nice barge by the ref on him too.

Hopefully Long can get some deserved game time against Italy.

The dreaded Desmond "Two-Two" curse could be haunting Italy again, as such a result would guarantee Spain and Croatia would qualify no matter what the Italians do against Ireland.

Similar to the Denmark - Sweden scenario in 2004.

So that's Ireland out which we all expected, i do feel they have slightly under performed but even at their best they would struggle to get out of this group.

Obviously we want to avoid Spain should we get through to the Quarters (which i know may be looking too far) but who would you fancy England more against, the Italians or croatia?

Italy impressed me in their opening game but i think i would rather play them should England get through.

You're spot on with under performed, especially the defence & even more especially Shay Given (hope that doesn't give Lambert food for thought with the Foster situation not sorted).

As for England, its a tricky one out of Italy or Croatia (assuming that's how it pans out) Italy looked impressive in the first game but not so much against Croatia, due to Italy's previous tournament experience (they seem to get stronger as it goes on) I'd just go for Croatia as Englands possible 1/4 final opponents.

people might laugh and take the mickey out of Ireland and their supporters, but obviously miss the point that their supporters follow the team through all the highs and lows. there have been more lows than highs but that is what real supporters do. a fact some people on here cant see.

Hands up children if you know the answer to this question, who's the silly little boys that just don't get it?.....................................#tumbleweed#

Anymore churlish comments please address them to don't ask me to choose luv  :-*

Brilliant result for Roy & the boys, just a point against Ukraine will do but a win to maybe top the group would mean not having to face Spain, who I think will win this group.
