A hard game for us to win especially if we allow Carrol, or Suarez room to operate, to me they are fast becoming a deadly combination lets hope Olson is fit for this game if he is then we have a chance to get a point or 3. ;)

Not many people know that we actually interviewed Shankly for the managers job here at one point in the 60's, or so I have been led to believe :o :o

Public Transport - Disruptions
« Reply #80 on: April 18, 2012, 02:37:17 PM »

Hi,

Looks like there is going to be some disruption to public transport for the game due to some road closures for the Sea Odyssey event.

I dont know why and fortunately i am normally wrong but got a bad feeling about this game.

I dont think Liverpool are particulary great at all and we should be looking to take points but them getting to the final will mean the ground is buzzing, Roys return they may look to turn it on and also every time i see them playing on MOTD / Sky they seem to have a million chances a game (okay exaggeration) and hit the post loads, goalies have a blinder, kicked off the line and i just think at some point they are going to turn into goals and some team is going to get battered possibly a 5 or 6  er and i have a nasty feeling will be us.

As my previous posts show i am normally optimistic so probably none of the above will happen!

9 away wins from 59 attempts in the league, not good.

However the last one was on 22nd April although it was in 1967.

West Brom away fans.
« Reply #87 on: April 18, 2012, 06:28:02 PM »
Hi guys, first time poster so go easy on me.

Started going to baggies games recently, including the Man City away game.

The away game was my first West Brom experience and I just wanted to clarify a few things.

Firstly, I thought the atmosphere from the Baggies fans wasn't that brilliant, I've heard better in the Hawthorns. Secondly, everyone was sitting down which shocked me really, I think that had a negative impact on the atmosphere a bit.

I understand some people may want to sit, but the majority of away fans in the league stand up and make a good atmosphere.

I was tempted to go to the Liverpool game but was worried that everyone would sit down again and be quiet.

I can understand if City was a one off, Roy did put a lower strength team out (which worked in getting the win against QPR)

Do away fans usually stand? or always sit?

Thanks  :)

Some sit , some stand. Man City always sitting for some reason.

No doubt this topic will now be full of posts slating our own fans as they usually are.

Ive got a kids ticket and im 20 lol

Im 20 aswell but Ive been told many times that getting in with kids at Anfield is a no-go so good look, any other ground is usually easy.

Thanks for the response, you say some sit some stand.

You have any idea what the Liverpool crowd will be like?

I just assumed that it being an 8pm KO and a weakened team the Albion fans were having an off day.

Liverpool probably won't be good to be fair, all depends whereabouts you are, last season we stood all game no problem but other years we've had to sit.

At Man City we stood all game at the back of the stand but seems to be a poor following every year i've been

Was in the upper tier at Man City last year and it looked like most of the lower tier was stood. Wasn't a great atmosphere though. Probably something to do with the drubbing we were getting on the pitch which says it all really.

Its usually the same way, if the players play well then the fans will respond.

I was in the lower tier at Man City and no one was stood up. The support was shockingly bad at the Etihad.

I guess you have to be the majority which me and my friend weren't. We were on Row B right behind the net, and the couple behind us demanded us to sit, we looked back and the WHOLE allocation was sitting.

Was a real disappointment really, I reckon most of them wouldn't mind to stand up. It was made even worse by the fact that to each side the City fans were standing and taunting albion fans about sitting, I really thought that would provoke a good response but nothing! :(

Should have come up the back there were plenty of spaces around us and we stood all game, there was a woman steward to the right of our section who told a few people to come to the back if they wanted to stand, admittedly it was only about 10 of us.

Agreed and I can see Liverpool being the same

Tend to get a different type (better) of atmosphere at the more less glamorous places like Goodison, Ewood, Brit etc and that's a shame really because it's games against the big teams when you're up against it that the players need the fans most.

Our away support seems to have been on the decline since about 2005, which is a great shame as when we're good we're bloody good

To be honest the Etihad is a bit of a rubbish stadium, sit, stand or lie down you wont get much of an atmosphere, AC/DC would be hard pushed to get that place rocking!

One of a few reasons I stopped going away sitting down and fairly quiet for the money it cost just couldn't justify the cost

Liverpool will be mostly sat, we have certain games where we stand and some where you need to be near the back , we always stood more in the championship
