If Livermore and Sawyers are nowhere near the starting line up or squad then I think we'll be much better.

I won't say we are going to win or get a point out of it but I'm expected a much better team selection and a much better performance.

I would have the following team:

Johnstone
O'Shea
Bartley
Ajayi
Townsend
Okay
AMN
Snodgrass
MP
Robinson
Diagne

Not sure of the formation but they seem to be the best players who give a toss on what is needed.

Edit:  Just realised I forgot Gallagher.  Maybe there isn't a place for him. Or perhaps I'd have him in for Snodgrass with Snodders on the bench.

Posted this in the pre-match thread but I'll post it here too.

I would chose this team for Sunday;

                           Johnstone

O'Shea           Ajayi          Bartley     Townsend

                                Okay

                AMN                         Gallagher

      MP                      Diagne             Snodgrass/Robinson

Feel this should offer more balance and flexibility. In defence can drop to a 451 and in possession either 433, 4141, 4123 or 4411

SA says he's tried all formations and truth is if we continue to let the opposition have this much possession they will create more chances and score more goals. Stick to a team and drill these formations and give them confidence to attack.

I feel they are petrified to concede and the players turn very negative and pass the ball back to SJ too often. We have nothing to lose against Yanited. Let's just try and give them a game.

It’s looking like Pogba will miss the game with injury.

Every little helps 🤞

They could play with 10 and still roll us over.

It's an own goal I'm afraid. Then the ref makes them retake the own goal and it's judged to be offside.

I wouldn't mind but we are winning 1-0 until the 97th minute and they put five past us.

        Johnstone

Peltier Ajayi Bartley Townsend

       MMN   Yokuslu

Snodgrass  Pereira   Grant

             Diagne

Diangana seems to have fallen off the face of the earth so I'll opt for Grant.

Peltier no way. Have you seen his defending for Spurs first goal? He was ten yards out of position screening Ajayi from the invisible man.

Why the hell he was picked in the first place is beyond me. How old is he, 34? He wasnt PL class during his peak years, how is he going to be now?

Allardyce's team selection at Spurs was ridiculous. He needs to sort his head out.

The other 2 have been as culpable if not worse. It doesn't matter who plays right back (unless he can convince AMN) just pick one of them and hope for the best. No reason for it not to be Peltier as it was only 2 nil, as opposed to the 4s and 5s with Dara and Furlong involved.

Not really an argument when we drew at Man City and Liverpool with Furlong and O'Shea involved and beat Wolves and beat Sheff Utd. You can use hand picked games to prove a point but the one thing that is true over a period of time is Peltier is not a PL footballer. AND even on the one off occasion last weekend he proved the point.

None of our full back options are good enough, in all honesty. Major problem this season, one of many

Ivanovitch only makes sense if we intend to play hoofball from the edge of penalty area for the entire game.  As soon as the back line moves up he's stranded and reliant on Ajayi to be his runner.

Diangana might come on after 60 mins but I don't think he has been at all convincing since the return from lockdown.  He bullied a few Championship defences but hasn't cut it against EPL standard full backs.

Cavani is a skilled and stealthy CF.  He's not fast but evades the best of defenders.
Furlong  has the speed to match Rashford but I would still go with O'Shea who has more positional sense then we could transition to a back three if necessary.  And there is the long throw-ins.

We haven't got much of a chance  but I would choose

                                             Johnstone

      O'Shea                 Ajayi                       Bartley               Townsend

                 Snodgrass                 Yoko Ono                 Gallagher

                             Pereira                                           Robinson/ Diangana

                                                Diangne

I think that's right

There's no chance of Maitland-Niles being dropped.

Forgot about AMN - he can't have caught my eye against the Spuds.  Perm with any one of Snoddie and Gallagher.

Looks like 15 minutes or so of Yokuslu is better than anything from Livermore or Sawyers over the past year or two.

And I agree!

That’s my team but in the end it’s pointless if we just sit and defend and then hump the ball as soon as we get it.
