Will be a big loss if true but with all his Nigeria problems of the last week i cant help but feel this maybe a smokescreen of sorts.

Yeah after getting booed off and apparently reacting badly to the fans I'm guessing they don't want him around the camp. Looks like a big smokescreen to me.

With any luck we'll revert back to Man Utd and Chelsea formation.

If it wasn't for Odemwingie's contribution last season, personally I have little doubt that we'd have gone down.

I'm amazed how soon folk forget how important a player he was to us stopping up last 'year'.

Not forgetting the contribution he made for us at all,but not liking him acting the Mr Big of Albion and wangling a new contract when he must have known he was carrying an jnjury all along.

Out for two vital derbies,an home game against Pool and who knows what else.

Lucky for us we were busy in the window.

Every cloud as they say.
Most on here have been saying Pete and Longy can't play together, now we will see if it makes any difference.
Hope he gives Tchoyi another go at it.

This sounds very concerning; at least we have Tchoyi, long and cox who can contribute in that position - if this had happened last season we would have been relegated. I do hope this will see us return to a similar team and system to the one we started the season with.

If he were playing as well as he was last season, I would agree he would be a big miss. However, our better performances have been without him this season, so this won't be a major problem.

Regardless of past form, players should be picked on current form, and in pete's case his form is poor. There's a lot of form for you...lol

at least we'v still got our top scorer in the side in Shane long
in my opinion Petes contract has caused a bit of unrest in the dressing room, he's here for one season and gets a new 40k-50k contract, ok, he was awesome last season but look at Brunt or Ollson, they've been here a lot longer and have stayed with us through thick and thin and have been offered nowhere near what Petes getting! I'd be a bit P'd off if that happened to me!
any way, if it is ture i hope he has a speedy recovery and starts firing on all cylinders
in the mean time i'd try Cox with Long, international team mates as well as Albion team mates, could be a beautiful thing!
if i were wrong, dont you think id know it!

Our "better performances" this season have been nothing to write home about! We have nothing of the offensive threat we carried last season. The odd opportunistic goal here and there apart we have to improve massively if we want to stay in this league. Long has started ok goalwise, but from what I have seen I doubt he can carry our attack in the way PO did last season. PO contributed much more than just the odd goal, he was a one man attack force, Long is far from that.

not convinced booch he was given anything like that. i doubt hes on much better if at all than any of the other top earners such as scharner. its just not albions way of doing things.

Cox starts for Ireland tonight ahead of Shane Long, be good for him to get 90 mins under his belt as I think he will now get a decent run in the team alongside Long, if the Pete rumour is true.

To be honest mate it wouldn't surprise me if its true, he did a twitter chat with fans before the Nigeria game the other day with Colin Udoh and he admitted he was still struggling with his ankle but he hoped it would sort itself out soon.

Will definitely be a loss regardless of his performances so far this season, its worth remembering he's played out wide and been playing with this ankle problem so he was hardly going to be at his best with something like that troubling him.

If its true I hope he wont be out for too long, we got relatively lucky on the injury front last season so we could do without losing our best players for a considerable amount of time so I don't see it as a blessing at all in that respect.

If this is true its time Cox was given a go,he made great strides last season and can consider himself unlucky to be left on the sidelines.I hold my hands up,i didnt think he would be good enough but give him a chance and he will shoot.Still lots of work to be done on his game but the talents there.

its seems to be all in his head a mental thing !!

ROY Hodgson has eased fears that Peter Odemwingie will require ankle surgery.

Sources in Nigeria last night claimed the Albion striker was being sent back home to prepare for an operation in Amsterdam.

But the Baggies boss this morning insisted that was not the case.

Odemwingie will, however, be travelling to see a specialist in Holland, along with Albion's doctor Mark Gillett and long-term absentee Zoltan Gera, just to be checked over.

Albion expect both Odemwingie and Gera to be given the all clear.

The 30-year-old striker was singled out for criticism following Nigeria's failure to qualify for next year's African Cup of Nations.

Yet Hodgson believes Odemwingie's ankle problems tend to come to the fore psychologically when his form or confidence dips.

"There's no question of him needing an operation," said Hodgson.

"The doctor Mark Gillet has got a good relationship with Peter.

"But whenever Peter has a poor game he looks to his ankle.

"We know that's what he's been doing since I've been at the club.

"I don't know what went on in the Nigeria game but I know they didn't qualify, which must be a disaster for the country.

Like I said one big smokescreen by Nigeria. Never trust the foreign press, people are too gullible  :)
