They interrupted TV for an urgent broadcast - that was a very nervous 15 seconds or so.

Not a Royalist but always sad to see an old chap pass away and a lady widowed. RIP.

I was not brought up to be Royalist, but this bloke and his wife have mellowed, perhaps even changed my views.

Prince Phillip. A great character,  top man, and an integral part of our beloved country, not perfect, but probably the best we could have ever hoped for. A true legend. R.I.P.

RIP Philip
His early life was difficult as he lost his dad early and got shifted around between countries.  Think he did a fantastic job supporting the Queen when he obviously had a strong personality and might have wanted to do things differently. RIP.

I know to a lot of people it's a significant event, but did they have to clear three TV channels last night?

Every news broadcast has probably the last five minutes for important news, and the rest is the same stuff they have been spouting all day

By all means it has to be reported, but it's the same stuff hour after hour

When I opened my paper today it was page 36 before I got to any other news.

At the end of the day, a 99 year old man, who has had a very privileged life, has died, and important stuff like covid has been relegated to an afterthought

we all know you are anti Royal but ay ho. At the end if the Day it doesn't matter what life he as had or how old he was,

he was an important part of our Country/history and it is an end of an era. Also he was someone's Husband,Father and  Grandfather and whatever you think it is worldwide news. And how as Covid been relegated? We all know it's still out there but if you look at the Covid thread on here people are posting less and less and sometimes nothing is being posted for days now.
R.I.P. Prince Philip thanks for your service.

COVID has had front page news and constant attention for over a year.

An important man in this countries history, a man who served his country and served it well, the Queens husband, dies and you’re having a moan that it’s on every channel.

You're complaining about one day's news coverage of Prince Phillip dying when we have been force-fed Covid for over a year.
I really think on reflection you may think it would have been wiser to have not posted at all if you had nothing good to say.

That's what Netflix, Prime, iPlayer and all other on demand services are for. You can turn off very easily.

I'm mostly an anti-Royalist I suppose but I respect that's important to others so I don't really care if it's taking up channels and newspaper space - ultimately there's a demand for it and that's what they're their for.

On the contrary this is merely a case of, 'there's a time and a place'.

This thread wasn't the time and wasn't the place imo.

Wall to wall coverage on 3 channels of the same network and the cancellation of a 4th was way too much . Surely continual coverage on the News Channel with the odd programme on the others would have been sufficient?
