Benitez officially announced as new Everton manager.

It has gone down like an absolute lead balloon. Imagine our appointment of Alan Irvine x 1000.

How to split the support. Get a foreign owner who has no idea of the tribalism which exists in the life of the football supporter.

There had to be a better option than Benetiz for Everton it's not that he is a superstar manager and just about anybody else would come with less baggage from an Everton perspective. This feels like a McLeish moment I think we have bedsheets yes we have bedsheets. Proper meltdown.  ;D

With Viera likely to be announced as Palace manager shortly that is the end of what has been a busy few weeks on the Premier League merry go round with 4 clubs getting new managers.

Did a quick trawl of the internet and nobody is happy about their new managers. The Dingles seem underwhelmed by Lage although probably the least unhappy of the fans and their appointment was fairly swift by comparison with the other 3 clubs. So whatever grievances the fanbase were nursing haven't been stewing for a month or more.

This brings us neatly onto Spurs. Nuno has them underwhelmed in part because he was sacked by Wolves. This does not sit well in the natural order of things "we're Spurs we don't hire managers sacked by some slags from the sticks...."   . Not only that but somebody showed them the prize they could have won in Conte, nobody was going to be good after that. They virtually had Foncesca through the door but changed their minds via Gattuso and now have landed with Nuno who looks very much like the last prize in the raffle.

Spurs fans discontent is but nothing compared that of Everton's over the appointment of Benetiz. We have gone to the bedsheets which is the football fan equivalent of burning torches and sharpened pitchforks. It's a McLeish to Villa moment. There is almost nothing Rafa can do to win the fans round.

Finally last through the door is Patrick Viera. I thought Palace fans would be at least okay with this but they aren't aside from relief they have a manager there is a lot of hand wringing. What they wanted was a slightly younger and a little bit more adventurous version of Roy. They would have been really pleased with Rafa and at least okay with Nuno.

Nobody is happy as this season Premier League manager swap comes to a close. Nobody is sailing off into the sunset and it feels like we will be revisiting some of these appointments again before too long.

On one hand I hope they all go to muck, but, on the other, if any of these get sacked by Christmas and we are storming the league, who's door will they come knocking? At least with a 4 year contract we will be a bit better protected but this is the biggest risk to any long term plan we may have.

The Benitez to Everton move is an odd looking fit. Given his career to date there's no way he's short of a few bob. He doesn't 'need' the money.

Must be on one heck of a wack to make him 'want' it enough to face the hassle he and his family are in for. This isn't like going from Liverpool red to Chelsea blue.

Even before he signed there was a bedsheet banner saying "we know where you live, don't sign!", this can only end badly for him, very strange one

I'd imagine that should Benitez win both Derby's and a cup for the first time in 26 /27 years a lot of the discontent will disappear.
Let's face it they've been **** for years and have a manager that may well be able to improve things.

Minimum requirement for him to become less despised by one half of Merseyside whilst becoming thoroughly detested by the other half.

Sancho is a top winger who is a large part of Dortmund's success. However is this Man Utd 'stockpiling' players again? They already have Cavani, Rashford, Martial and Greenwood. They can't all play. Also Donny vd Beek can't get a game. Completly wasting their time at Old Trafford.

maybe they are going to have a big clearout, rumoured to be doing that with the goalkeeper department.

Portuguese international Trincao heading to Wolves from Barcelona on loan. Conflicting reports around if there is an option to make the deal permanent, John Percy says there is while others say not. Supposed to be a decent signing.

They must be getting ready to sell a few. Traore will be leaving. Yet another Portuguese player? He is supposed to be a very good player.

I have no idea whether they Wolves need Trincao or whether it is the precursor to them selling Traore or is a replacement for Podence who is sidelined by injury. Wolves might end up with a player they need but I always suspect this is a secondary consideration to the need to do the deal.

Palace have done a shrewd piece of business in signing defender Marc Guehi from Chelsea. He was a colossus on loan at Swansea.

BBC are reporting that Man City have reached an agreement with Grealish and will offer the vile £90m for him.

Not a bad profit for an academy player if it comes off.

Always said he would look good in a City shirt  ;D

I would say that I hope Villa urine the money up the wall like they have so much more but they’ll probably blow £90m on players then find the next Messi from our academy.

Good business for them, £90m for Greasy, £25m to us for MP, and a cool £65m in the bank.

And to think that they were nearly going into administration not so long ago.

Saved by the Covid break and then the only time goal-line technology has ever not worked in the Premier League. If you can't be good, be lucky.

The Telegraph are reporting that Harry Kane won't be playing for the first few games of the Premier League season, including Spurs vs Man City. The plot thickens.

It's really hard to see how they will manage to do that. I'd imagine he wants to win trophies and play in the top European competition...something Villa aren't going to be able to offer him.

Not sure he will make the man city first team, when you look at their MF options
DeBruyne / Foden / Zinchenko / Gundogen / Bernardo Silva / Fernandinhio / Rodri

absolutely staggering depth / quality
