No. 1 is pure conjecture.
No.2 he was confirmed as being on our short list. All gone silent since then, it would be nice to have some transparency.

Albion and PR. Nah!

I found out from a local journalist who is pretty reliable. Lampard is friends with Billic!
Lee Probert's Barmy Army!!!

This is the problem with speculation don't you think?
We will never know what really goes on behind the scenes will we?
We can't influence anything can we, not even the minority shareholders
It's only a game we supporters play.
We must get behind whoever is appointed, nyou can't please everybody all the time can you?
You never know, fingers crossed, that things might work out well, why the disbelief and negativity that seems to pervade on here?
We all know that luck is required in life why would it not be at WBA?
Arnt we due a popular manager/coach /players we just might be due now.

Derek Mcinnes now a front runner according to Daily Mail midlands reporter.
A big no to him too. Coming a distant third to Celtic and Rangers in a tinpot league is no kind of achievement. If he hadn't played for us none of us would give him the time of day as a manager.

Preston were 16th in the Championship when Neil was fired last season. I'd be mortified if it ends up being him.
Did he not use our interest in him last time to get a new contract at PNE?

Just noticed that Stuart Pearce hasn't signed up at WHU until the managers future is sorted, what about a call to Pearce?

Yep.

If we appoint him I will really struggle to accept it. I am happy to be open minded on most possibilities but some are barrel scraping of the highest order.

Praying we’ll get Appleton now as Alex Neil will be Irvine-esque

Well if you believe all the previous, we won't pay compensation. That would rule Appleton out.
Hoe it's not Alex Neil  ???
But you just know don't you?

Could be fate.
Surely, as a club legend, he would unite the fan base?? Oh wait...........maybe not.

We were scraping the bottom of the barrel with Wagner... McInnes never even made it into the barrel. Worcs won't be showing us any tactical videos of this guy beyond a deep sitting block.

Great captain. Garbage manager.

As for Alex Neil, well he's just A'F'I again isn't he? These past few days have been extremely concerning to say the least.
Proud to be a Baggie. BOING BOING.

That would be horrendous - at least Appleton has some credentials.

What a complete mess we are.

Does Lai end up with egg on his face if we go for Wilder? If it’s someone else do they assume they were effectively 3rd choice for the job.

What a shambles.

E&S article yesterday actually said we were willing to pay the compensation required for Appleton. Although sadly you do get the impression that is only as a last resort once all unattached managers have rejected us

I wouldn't even attempt to seek a silver lining with either McInnes or Neil! We're going to end up with Brunt and Morrison as joint managers at this rate.....

This has become a mess now. McInnis should not be in contention, Dowling doesn't know what he is doing.

Hmm pathetic isnt it? Apart from the select few Albion should  be a very attractive job arguably the MOST attractive outside the PL and arguably more attractive than one or two in the PL.

Why the mess?

Its concerning.

It's only a weak list due to the Board's lack of vision combined with unrealistic restrictions being applied.

I am not particularly keen on any of the candidates but in the absence of any influence will have to support the appointment if or until it proves to have failed (yet again). What I cannot get my head around is the negativity regarding former players. It might just be that they are decent managers in spite of their prior association with WBA. Not saying its true, or it is not true about Appleton or Mc'Innes, but I don't think whether they played for us or not should have any particular influence. Or am I crediting this board and management team with too much ability to think, rather than a recently exhibited mere reptilian survival mechanism which might eventually succeed in destroying their own environment.

I would agree with Appleton now, its not going to be Wilder due to our owner, Cooper is too expensive compensation wise.  I wouldn't go Neil, he used us last time and wouldn't be a very popular appointment. After that there is not much choice !

Welcoming our new manger to the Hawthorns, he’s agreed to a salary of 1 pack of Panini stickers a week..  he tried to haggle for 2 packs & a player manager role but the board deemed this an outrageous demand
