I think he follows the bookies' swings tbh.

Throw enough stuff, something will stick eventually.

Just was hoping it wasn’t Wagner.

He also said months ago wilder was a done deal.

Has so many wba fans pining on his every word. He mentioned earlier he wouldn’t be saying anything else as he got in trouble with his ‘source’ when he was ranting the other day claiming Appleton had the job and that the ops manager had blocked the wilder deal. Said he wasn’t saying any more, now he’s saying Wagner is the new boss.

I said on page 69 of this thread my thoughts on Sooty but got a warning from admin.,He knows nothing but just keeps stating things that have just come into the press.

Understood, that’s fair enough 👍🏻

I see Wagner’s odds now stand at 1/10. Somethings going on...

I think we need to look at the positives of Wagner.

I’ll start….

He’ll be our first German manager/head coach

Wagner will be the worst pick of the bunch for me. His Huddersfield team were horrendous and even more defensive that a Pulis team without any intent going forward. One of the poorest prem teams in recent years, followed by an abysmal run with Schalke.

I’d sooner have Alex Neil if the criteria was a promotion, experience and free.

It’ll be a new low for the club. Worse than the Irvine appointment if it happens.

Isn't it equally possible that the bookies' odds react to the speculation? People seeing lots of speculation about Wagner would encourage some of them them to bet on him wouldn't it, thus shortening his odds? Both things probably feed off each other and, perhaps, creates an impression of certainty when it's actually nothing more than a rumour which has taken off.

If it is Wagner, I suppose we could say that he should be driven by having a lot to prove after following Huddersfield's relegation with the Schalke debacle.

I’m with you on that.

That 1-2 loss at the Hawthorn’s in 2018 was THE worst home game I witnessed in 17/18.

Wasn’t there for the earlier away fixture, but some of the Albion lads told me how very bad it was. Awful atmosphere apparently.

Oh they’ll be delighted Gaz.

Wagner will be a walking, talking DeLorean time machine!!

Back to the late 80’s/early 90’s for us I fear...

I can't even understand why posters are worrying about David Wagner, he has no chance of getting the job IMV. I still can't see the board seeing past Wilder - who I'm not a fan of.

Isn't Wilders announcement still going through the FA to check for wording etc?  ;D

To go from 20/1 to 1/10 in odds is a massive swing in odds, either media know something or someone has whacked a massive stake on him getting the job for the odds to go to 1/10.

Hopefully it’s just a load of rubbish as it’s an awful appointment for me.

This would be a disaster if confirmed  :'(

Looking back at Huddersfield's record when they were promoted via the playoffs, they finished 5th with a negative goal difference of -2  :o

In 46 games they only scored 56 goals and conceded 58.

Hope to god this is a wind up!

I was going to say he signed Grant but just checked and he left 15 days before KG joined them

He’s odds have changed dramatically very quickly. As above, someone either knows something or someone with lots of money is on the wind up.

Given our track record, it is most likely the first option.

Our lot might be feeding all this Wagner speculation, so Wilder (who I would take out of the current crop) is more palatable to the fans.

Just wouldn’t put it past them

Just to bring a tiny bit of positivity to proceedings, when Huddersfield survived in the Premier League in 2017-18, The Guardian described it as "the Premier League's greatest survival story" and that Wagner was "a leader of rare charisma and intelligence".

Or maybe it makes Appleton more palatable.

To be honest with you they could announce Alex Irvine and I’d be more excited than Wagner  :D

Bookies odds are not the be all and end all, but I’d think it’s incredibly naive to think the gambling industry wouldn’t have sources in football as well as reacting to large bets, rumours and market conditions.

Also, if you want any info sooty comes out with 10 minutes before he has it, just follow West Brom on newsnow.
