David Ornstein (Athletic Arsenal reporter) said ages ago that he’s signing the papers in London and was heading back to London to sign them. So this driving up north malarkey doesn’t cut it don’t think.

Yep the whole driving up north thing & other club trying to hijack the deal sounds like Sky Sports fabricating the story to boost tv viewing figures for deadline day. Realistically why is he driving up North tonight he can’t play tomorrow night so has plenty of time to come up tomorrow / Wednesday.

Maitland Niles will join West Bromwich, Willock signs as new Newcastle player and Nelson is staying. Arsenal plans, work in progress. 🔴 #AFC #DeadlineDay

Sky Sports News' Midlands reporter Rob Dorsett:

"West Brom have less than one hour and 35 minutes to complete the loan signing of Ainsley Maitland-Niles and it's one they've been working on for a good while now. At the start of the day, it looked unlikely but now we've reached the period where we wait and it's pretty silent.

"I've been speaking to people close to the club and the player and of course all those people are now busy trying to get the deal done so it's all gone very quiet. For West Brom, it's now a race against time. It would be a coup if they get it done, but the next hour and a half will be absolutely critical."

If it comes to it we can request an extension as long as the relevant paperwork is in, I imagine we a literally just waiting for the lad to arrive and sign on the dotted line

Brilliant signing and can play at RB if we need him to.

Hopefully tomorrow night is the last of Livermore and Sawyers being needed.

I like the lads ambition come here to try and nail a spot in the England team for the Euro’s, to be fair to him next to Livermore & Sawyer’s he’l look like he’s the next coming of Zidane so it could be a smart move for him.
