well one up top has not really worke?
we always look more solid with both yacob and mulumbu
IMO sess and morgan are technicaly the best footballers we have
the left side gives me nightmares and is clearly an area oppositions target.
ridgwell is never a prem quality leftback/centreback/programme seller.

so
                                           foster
                dawson/lugano     gmac     Olsson

          jones      yacob     amilfitano    mulumbu    sess

                            vydra            berahino

at any point these players could drop into 442 or 451 without having to sub
jan , id deffo get Fabio or naughton on loan or buy cresswell,
I really believe there is enough in our squad to damage some teams, they just need the chance and motivation.
If youre going to get told off, get told off for doing something not for doing nothing..

As people have noted our back four and especially our to center halves are unable to defend the long ball and we seem to get caught out regularly so that being said I'd like to drop Olsson and gmac and go with
Foster
Jones
Dawson or lugano
Ridgewell
Popov
Reid
Mulumbu
Yacob
Dorrans
Berahino
Thievy
Need to do something drastic to stop this slump were in

I think Paul has answered baggiebirdrus's post. Ridgewell is not quite to the standard we need, but who else is there? Popov is no good either.

As a LB under Roy Ridgewell was decent enough , what doesn't suit him is pushing up out of position like under Clarke and even more so Mel.
Given our situation I'd stiffen up a bit especially with Thievy and Sinclair now involved pace wise.

I thought Chris Brunt had a very good 45 minutes at left back. Much better than Ridgewell was in the opening 45. It's not the only time Brunt has looked better than Ridgewell or Popov at full back either. That said, Brunt has found some very good form of late and shouldn't be paying the price of being moved around because the club was too lazy to address a weakness in the summer.

When all fit ...
                                                                 Foster
Jones                              Gmac                                               Olsson                     Ridgewell

                                                         Yacob                          Mulumbu

Sinclair                                                              Thievy                                           Brunt (c)

                                                            Anichebe
Looking at that ....solid enough back and middle but maybe not enough going forward which is where our problems started this season Imo.

As you say Liam , it's too much of a waste to play him there. The moment you play Brunt at LB opposing managers will put their quickest player on him.

More worryingly is that we shall be taking away our most creative player. Despite the whole side being utter garbage in the first half, he produced a piece of class to provide a clear cut chance for Anichebe who really should have scored.

Jones             yacob             brunt
            Morrison Amalfitano
                   Thievy
                 Anichebe

Best performance in a while was spurs away. Go back to 3 at back and amalfitano in middle. In all honesty something needs to change otherwise we will be in the championship.

I think a back 3 with 'wing backs' the most effective way of being stable at the back but also gives us that pace and counter attacking ability which we are severely lacking.

If I had my way, Reid, Ridgewell and Dorrans would never wear the shirt again.

Foster

Jones
McAuley
Lugano
POPOV (give him a 13 match run to earn a contract he CANNOT be any worse than Ridgewell)

Mulumbu
Yacob
Brunt

Anelka (Sessegnon if Anelka receives a ban)
Anichebe
Thievy

Subs. Morrison, Myhill, Amalfitano, Berahino, Sinclair, Sessegnon, Olsson.

Pretty worrying that this far into the season everyone's idea of our strongest 11 is different. After winning 4 games all season and needing to win at least another 4/5 from the remaining fixtures it doesn't look good. I'd probably go for this for the rest of the season.

Foster
Jones McAuley Olsson Brunt
Yacob Mulumbu
Amalfitano Sessegnon

I'm inclined to disagree with this comment. Popov is very unstable, unpredictable and reckless. At least with Ridgewell there is an element of stability, even if he doesn't have much skill or speed. I feel Liam works better on the left with Brunt than Popov ever could.

I have to ask, what has Dorrans done to warrant not being allowed to wear a shirt again? He's no worse than Morrison, Brunt, Gera, Sessegnon or Sinclair, and in my eyes he played a vital part in getting us back into the PL and still has something to offer. The team is stale so I'm totally baffled as to why Graham hasn't had more opportunities to replace some of the players mentioned in the list, as these have been shocking.

Morrison and Brunt have been fantastic servants for the Albion, but are shadows of their former selves, Gera is getting on and it's beginning to show, and Sess and Sinclair just are not up to it, they fail to produce week in and week out.

I'd quite like to find out Anichebe's stats. He's the new Heskey - big and bulky but a complete lightweight when it comes to holding the ball up, he spent almost as long on the floor as Long used to. Hopefully Thievy will bring some magic to the team, he certainly looked tasty yesterday and scored a very good goal.

For me Amalfitano has to play, he was M.O.M. The last time we won a game against Newcastle. Brunt tries his heart out but IMO we don't seem to win when he starts ...

A perhaps slightly too ambitious line-up to face Chelski, but I like your way of thinking. We have got to be more positive for the rest of the season. It's time Sessegnon got fit again too. There are far too many prima donna players around nowadays who won't play unless everything is perfect. Our situation is so serious that everyone has to forget little niggles, role up their sleeves and sweat until they drop.

A bit gunge ho yes i agree, but some times the best form of defense is attack & any way 95% of fans will have us down to lose this one so i don't see why not & its the VERY last thing the chosen one would expect.
