Sarina Wiegman or Emma Hayes.

I'd like Wiegman to win the world cup for England first or replace Southgate ;)

Edwards or Rosenior, maybe someone like Carrick? After the tired list of old managers I would like someone with fresh ideas and imagination. I actually quite like Nathan Jones at Luton but we couldn't afford the compo.

Gourlay is primarily responsible for this appointment so no real confidence...

Bruce is not a man of principles, the man has walked away from clubs when it suits him. Please don't pretend he's a man of virtue. It's an insult to good men.

This... People passed over the fact he said "As a person of principle and a fighter I will never walk away.... oh well I did when a better job came up! Steve seemed to forget he didn't just do this once, like it was a one off he left whenever he felt like it. Now he's a person of principle :)

He got the job in February and had a full pre-season. He loaned out players who weren't in his plans but are now thriving elsewhere. When a manager makes multiple changes for a league game for the second game in a row it's clear he is scrambling and doesn't have a plan. The changes today weren't down to injuries. He decided to not bring in a striker and let kipre go. We haven't won more than 2 games in a row since he arrived. This isn't being anti- Bruce its stating facts.
When people say who would come in, people said that when Pardew was sacked too late and we hired Darren Moore. Even 3 wins from a temporary coach is better than what we have. Let's remember in the CHAMPIONSHIP he has 1 win in 13...

The reason he is still here is very simple - we don't have the money to pay him off. He will remain in place until we reach the rumoured break clause in Jan (I really hope that clause is in place).

Ron is probably glad the atmosphere around the cub is horrifically toxic as it might force Bruce to walk.
I heard we have 7 mill stashed somewhere in China that we are for sure getting back soon ;)

Apparently 5 wins from 12 is now promotion form (including beating an already relegated team on the last day of the season). Also a run of 2 wins in a row (most he has got as our manager) is promotion form. Ironically the team he had last year weren't his players (the reason it was hard) but now he got his own players in we are worse :) You can't make it up.
Oh and he said we were terrible when he first took over but the reason Ron gave him the job was because Steve gets results straight away.

More from ELIAS

@EliasBurke

Response to suggestion you should walk?

SB: "I'm never going to walk; that means quitting. I'm not going to quit. Never."

Response to boos against individual players?

SB: "For two and a half years, this club has been difficult. It hasn't had the results the supporters want to see, and since I've been here, everybody has had their fair share of a boo.

SB: "Whether it's Grant, Furlong, or Livermore, their frustration comes from not getting the results. This is not a new thing; it's gone on for a while. I came in & thought I could turn it around. I had a nightmare start, but last 12 games of last season, we hit promotion form which might have given us a bit of stability. However, we haven't had the results this year, which equates to where we are at this particular moment. It's happened too often over the last two to three years."

Someone who says this actually make me think he has lost a grip on reality....Is someone really that deluded?

Steve Bruce: "I'll never quit when I'm up against it. I've quit to get a better job, which we're all entitled to do, but I'll not walk away now. What would that look like? I've just seen the players give everything that they possibly could.

Like I said not such a nice guy after all....

Also can we drop the "he's a nice guy" schtick. That seems to always be the qualifier but if he is why is he so disliked by every team he has managed. Also why if he's such a nice guy does he have no integrity????

Obviously we shouldn't personally abuse Bruce or his staff. I do think critique and telling him that we think he isn't doing the job he is paid handsomely to do is fine. I actually think the narrative of he's a lovely bloke though is wearing thin. He must know that he doesn't help himself.
The glaring thing from the press conference is that he doesn't seem to understand the situation we are in or he is being antagonistic. To say to the fans need to get behind the team when we have conceded first in virtually every game and usually within the first 10 minutes is comical. The air goes out of the atmosphere straight away. Surely the fans actually need something to get behind. Birmingham, Sawnsea and Preston are 3 of our last 4 games and they were hardly Brazil 1970.
To also say we need to go on a run....We have won 1 in 12 and I think we have only won 2 games in a row once i his tenure which was the dead rubbers at the end of last season.

"We dust ourselves off and go again"
"I am convinced I can turn this around"
"We have to cut out the individual errors"
"We are playing well but just haven't got the results"
"He is a good lad and I've been impressed" (Any young player TGH, Cleary, Ashworth that we never see again after Bruce praises him).

Just prepping everyone for tomorrow :)

I think something is off here...Val, Darren Moore, Bilic got sacked for way way less. We have gone from the prem to the relegation zone in the champ and the manager still has a job.
To be honest I don't think I have seen someone so out of touch with what is going on at the football club (maybe the Glazers). I assume he will be moving around the deckchairs on the pitch in a half time show ;)

The football industry is terrifying. Owners who don't care and are so far removed end up hiring people because they are mate's with someone. There is no due diligence in ownership but also no due diligence in senior recruitment.
Millions of pounds swirling around in the game and yet we hire the failed CEO of Reading after hiring Dowling who was fired from Forest (for his ineptitude). The lack of imagination in our structure, hiring managers and recruitment of players is so scary. Since relegation Swansea have lost players and spent hardly any money and yet decided to be wise in recruitment of managers and players to fit a structure. They find players like Piroe for 1 mill and we sign Karlan Grant for 16  :o

I personally don't think anyone has a clue who to hire after Bruce. I mentioned it before but watch Sunderland till I die and change the name...Bruce has been dreadful and was a dreadful appointment but do you have any confidence we will hire someone decent? Who at the club has any experience of running a successful football club?
We couldn't even sign the right paperwork to loan some players so turning around years of stagnation might be beyond them ;)

Not only are we terrible we now have Kipre, Taylor and Griffiths being lauded by their teams fans and wondering why we loaned these players out. But we kept Bartley, Button and Phillips :)

Does Gourlay really wield this much power? The whole thing seems bizarre. We were told Lai didn't want Wilder and got involved. We sacked Bilic, Moore and Val when we much higher up the league as we needed to act to "save" the season. Now Bruce essentially has us in the relegation zone but is safe?
Gourlay should go with Bruce, the willingness to let the whole club fail to save his mate seems perverse to me...

Bruce should have gone before the international break...Sadly Gourlay seems equally as poor at his job than his mate Steve....

Said multiple times, can another manager do better with this squad....YES! We have a half decent squad if coached correctly. The fact our third best centre half and potentially best goalkeeper are out on loan says a lot about Bruce.
The problem is he has twice said how good it was to be on the training ground with some time to work with the players, the 2 games after he said that were Blues and Swansea...
Gourlay is a huge worry for me, he got Bruce as that was the only name in his rolodex...

I assume Ron had a big smile on his face as we scraped a draw and so now has 2 weeks to not have to tell his mate the bad news. So 2 weeks for us to wait for for a draw against Swansea.

The performances haven't been that bad but the results are awful. We have 1 win in 10 in the Championship! I am not a fan of Bruce and never have been but I will say the ref was abject. Their goal is so clearly a handball its laughable and the foul on Swift is so clear.

The ultimate question is "can another manager get better out of this squad of players?" and the answer is yes. Therefore goodbye Steve. My fear is that Gourlay appointed Bruce and when we could have parted ways at the end of the season kept him on. Gourlay's reasons for appointing Bruce back in February are now in tatters. I have no confidence that we will get in a decent replacement. We all know if we don't go up this year it will be a disaster for our finances....I would suggest relegation seems more likely than promotion.
