Im happy to finish 6th and play Ipswich over 2 legs...

Absolutely this, and hope that Leeds take care of Southampton.
Saints are the only side I think we'd struggle to beat. On our day we can take Ipswich and Leeds.

You didn’t rate Foster then! Wow.

Anybody who doesn't rate Foster is an absolute madman. The best we've had between the sticks in my lifetime.

Keep reminding myself I'd have taken a point before the game.

Totally agree.

Out of interest who would we rather face at Wembley (big trouser talk I know); Leeds or Southampton?

If we turn up, we can beat anyone in the frame.for the playoffs. We have no one to fear, apart from.ourselves.

We would be so dangerous if we just had one or two players with goalscorer instincts. I think we make good play down the wings and you can't say we don't put lots of balls into the mixer, we just don't have someone to get on the end of them, or to be in the position to recover them, or to snatch at and make something out of half-chances.

Johnston should have stayed on he was causing proper issues.

That's the difference. They take their chances. We can't seem to.

Just imagine the type of character that shouts and screams for a fellow manager to be sent off for something so innocuous. Urgh.

He moved outside the technical area and put his foot to it. Silly really, gives the ref a decision to make.

Russell Martin is a right snidy grass though, hope he steps on some upturned Lego tonight.

Think we've played quite well overall. As ever is though, we lack the clinical instinctive edge to take the half chances that fall to us. Hope we sub off BTA for Weimann, we need a goalscorer instinct on the field.

Could someone clear up something for me about this deal.
Up to now, it's been assumed the price would be c£60m and would take care of our debt.

The athletic article reads
"It is understood that the proposed price tag is just over £20million, which will be paid in three instalments over 18 months. Patel’s group is also taking on almost £40m in debt."

So is the debt remaining in pace against is then, rather than being cleared by the new owner upon takeover?

Like a book of condolences, except it's us telling Lai where to go forth to multiply.   :D

I was just chatting with a bloke at work who is a church goer, and he asked me how it came about that we took TLMS as our anthem?

I couldn't answer and the only thing I could find online was one suggestion from 8 years ago that stated it was a cup game in the 70's against Everton when a load of drunks sang it because the match was being played on a Sunday, and then it reappeared regularly again from the 90's?

Is this right?

Exactly my understanding.

very skeptical on the practicalities of this potential deal.

He's been practically non-active since July of 2023 that I can see. To say he'll be rusty is a massive understatement.
That said, four months is nothing in terms of risk so maybe it'll be worthwhile. My head says it'll be another Sako style pointless signing.

And how do we feel about someone not being proven guilty having their season ticket suspended?
Isn’t that a sanction based on a very loose assumption?

Its fine. I would be suspended from work if I was accused of similar until it had been straightened out. Not an issue at all.

Playing the liquidator is fine.

Giving free reign to cheap cocaine snorters within the ground is not. I'd start there, zero tolerance to that bunch of [expletive]

Thought we matched them but we were poorer in both boxes: had plenty of touches in their box but didn't make enough of them.

Anyway, back to the game, we were unlucky but a classic Championship v Premier League team. A few moral victories and we move on.

Absolutely agree with this. As ever has been, we lacked the cutting edge, the incisiveness that being able to spend upwards of £15m on a player gets you. Across the middle of the park I think we did well, and I see we had 52% possession and also matched or bettered them on shots taken and shots on target. We just don't have the clinical finishing to put them away.

Nowhere was this summed up better than in Swifts performance: always seems to need an extra touch or tow, always a tip-tap instead of shooting. Also offered absolutely nothing in our defensive phases.

I am also sick to death of winning corner after corner but rarely having anything to show for it.

On the good side, I thought Taylor did very well in his short cameo

Sam Matterface really is a piece of work...on the commentary he said "I spoke to someone earlier who said they wouldn't bring their child to this fixture."

Absolute nonsense...

I know several people that didn't take their kids to this. And to be honest, I would say their choice was justified.

Just out of interest how many more loans are we allowed ?

Off the top of my head, no more than two from one club, and only five loan players can be involved in a matchday squad.
Max of seven loan players in, although I don't know if that counts over the full season, or at a time?

It's been 11 days, so did you find the "relentlessly negative" posts that tired you so much, but for some reason you felt yhr need to resd and comment on, or have you are tired of looking for things that don't exist?

Next time you go around throwing accusations that aren't true get your facts right, not rating and wanting AR does make you negative, it just means you have eyes that still function.

You told me I didn't have to read your posts so I didn't *shrug*
Go and have a walk in the sunshine mate, its lovely out. Its not worth anybodys blood pressure coming back to shout the odds two weeks later x

DR Congo are in the knock out stages. They play Egypt on Sunday at 8pm. Diangana not played a minute yet apparently.

I'd expect Egypt to beat them so we should have him back and ready for Blues..even if on the bench.

Yeah, not got on the pitch yet. Bit torn on that: whats the point of him going and us losing him, if he's not being used but then, the less he plays, the less chance of any injury for us when he returns.

I give up, let's ""definitely" keep him because after nearly 3 years here ok is our new standard.

Absolutely nobody is saying that on this board. Zero. None. All I've read is "he's doing ok, rather we weren't paying him loads, but seems to be doing a job". You then take that as "lets keep him then".
You have to be the most relentlessly negative person on this board, its tiring reading your posts in all honesty.

Gibbs was fantastic when he was fit, which sadly wasn't very often. Very classy and capable footballer.
On the flipside, I maintain that if he had a better fitness record he would likely have stayed at Arsenal and would never have been a realistic signing for us.

Chester was a funny one. I seem to remember there was some rumblings around his signing being incentivised by him and Pulis sharing an agent or something.

Verela was meant to be good, but vanished after half a season. Weird window that was.

Alex Pritchard was a funny one. Came on for one game, showed more initiative and imagination that anyone else on the pitch, Pulis thought thats quite enough of that thank you very much, and he got one more game in the cup until he was sent back to spurs.

And I always remember Artim Sakiri: I recall we went through all sorts of legal appeals and such to get him in, and then barely played him.

I thought he did okay today. Some seem to want to criticise him as a matter of course. I go on what I see. He was ok today.

He's fine. As I said previously, I'd ship him out if it were possible, but it seems CC has identified his usefulness as a steady hand utility player whilst we're light on bodies and so far this season he's done whats needed and not **** the bed whilst doing so. I'd not really want to see him get an extension, but he's fulfilling a role as it stands.

I'm no fan and would absolutely prefer we'd not signed him and would ship him out on a free if the opportunity presented itself.
But I can't argue with the fact that when he unexpectedly had to come on against Leeds he did a very competent job, did everything we needed to retain that lead and came within inches of scoring a fantastic goal.

He's far from a world beater, but it seems CC has found a role for him and that's good for us.
