i dont get the need for a classic old fashioned center forward, I would much prefer a SKP type forward especially if we are pressing high up and getting the ball forward quickly via Diangana / Grant / Robinson.

Do we need to hold the ball up and wait for the HRK / Austin / Zohore types to arrive?  don't think so.

I wouldnt be panicking too much over this, the ex Albion staff at Villa are picking players they know, have worked with before and rate.

However as said before, they create a very comfortable environment, out our so called future stars - Field, Roberts, Leko, Edwards, Harper and O’shea, only Roberts has gone to better things, O’Shea is a regular for us, the rest have flattered to deceive. (I dont include Ferguson as he was on his way out until Bilic spotted something)

All the above players were at one stage or another going to be our next big thing when they were 15, 16 or 17 and no fulfilled their potential, they all had opportunities (some could of maybe had more) but personally i wasnt devastated any of them have left as they were never regulars.

Villa have spent a lot of money getting players from elsewhere, the ex Albion staff need to up their game to get those players ready for first team football and not too comfortable like they did with us, if they do that then fair play, but if they dont i expect there will be a major revamp in a few years at Villa with those there now out of work.

Villa are desperate to play catchup locally and do like Chelsea, Man City and Liverpool do, the difference is they sell players from their academies for a lot of money, i think giving them  free transfers, £500k from Ipswich one year (Harper),  £750k from Blues (Leko) another year wont be enough, the pressure is very much on for the Albion old boys working there now.
Kemar Roofe is doing ok, yes it scotland but he is a big fish in that pond now.

As in they will never come to pass...

Imagine being pro vaccine passports, we've been here before (Germany in the 1930s) it doesn't end well.

Seriously thats an outrageous link to make, you need to rethink that one mate, not remotely funny.

One sure way to get rid of vaccine passports is to boycott any venue that uses them.  But we all know that is not going to happen because we live in a selfish society today .

vaccinate for the greater good   or    boycott for the greater good ?

all depends on your perspective of selfish I suppose

« on: July 26, 2021, 08:15:54 AM »
anyone goes at the right price !  What price for Semi is the question

Semi Ajayi earns £13,000 per week, £676,000 per year playing for West Bromwich Albion as a D (C), DM. Semi Ajayi's net worth is £2,007,200. Semi Ajayi is 26 years old and was born in Nigeria. His current contract expires June 30, 2023.  (from

On this basis we should be looking for £8-10m from a prem club IMO.  As he is currently "only" on £13k Norwich should be making him a tempting offer I would think.

Totally agree. Thought Edwards was the best player we let go recently.
did we let him go though ??

I remember last year starting a post about using DH gate for shirts.

I took the punt.

Was amazing value and well worth it. I bought all 3 of last season’s kits for £12 each.

I also had the original replica and when I matched them, the only noticeable difference was a slight variation in the navy blue and the IDEAL sponsor was slightly smaller on each shirt.

This seasons kits (both of them) are available again for £12 so I’m buying from the Chinese direct this year, would highly recommend to any Parents’ out there looking to kit the kids out.

Ditto, I got a chinese shirt - top notch !

The powers that be need to hold their nerve if west ham have come back with second offer double their first then Albion are in driving seat.
West Ham are in serious financial straits with Gold and Sullivan looking to offload shares to generate cash,   I wouldnt hold my breath on them weighing in with decent bids

Yeah it is, was in there a week or two ago.  Plenty of ales on.
If i was going, thats where I would be heading, proper boozer when I used to go in there (many years ago)

Is the leathern  bottle still open?

No but he can roll them in glitter.

Seems to me that our hands are tied if we don't sell either Sam or Matheus...
If we don’t sell either we just need a CF to storm this league

peace out brother !

I agree that S4A have a gripe with Peace, and I agree that there is nothing odd with the loan transaction. What is a mystery is what it was used for, which Peace is keen to tell all that 'it was not used to buy shares for me'.

S4A have an audience with Ken on the 29th I think. However, I don't imagine that they will get far as Kens boss owns 88% of the club, so it is his bat and his ball.

No doubt they will receive a polite but firm 'Go away'.

he'll just say "ask baldy, nowt to do with us aer kid !"  pointless asking!

General Football & Sports / Re: England Cricket Thread
« on: July 22, 2021, 12:11:56 PM »
I'm not sure I agree on that. In cricket, you get scores of 200 in a twenty twenty game, while in baseball you get scores of 3-2 and 4-2. Pitchers aim for something called a "no-hitter", which basically means you don't get hit at all. No bowler in cricket would have a few overs without a batsmen making contact with the ball.

Cricket is more enjoyable but it's tougher to hit a baseball with the much smaller bats and the ball coming quicker at you.

i dont get how swinging and missing is entertaining though, its a bit like going to a shadow boxing match or a game of foot (no ball) to me.

The real missing nugget is "money was not borrowed from the football club to buy shares." so, What was it borrowed for??

Thats the problem though isn't it, anyone wanting MP will hold off as long as possible hoping we will get desperate as we need the funds.
To be more astute and release cash (say £15-20m) for re-building now and then claw back by selling MP is the way to go in my opinion, I doubt Mr Lai will see it that way though.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Guochuan Lai
« on: July 21, 2021, 01:29:58 PM »
I honestly don't know what S4A hope to achieve here.

The club has about £20m to £30m in owners debt on the books that is not bearing interest. The club is owed £5m which is accruing interest. So the club owes the ownership somewhere between £15m and £25m net and the balance does not attract interest. I have never seen anybody "Dunning" themselves it is first but of course the club isn't it is a minority of shareholders.

So the repayment of the loan is not beneficial to the club not when the balance of debt is heavily weighted in favour of the club.

If S4A have a complaint it is with Peace and whether or not he acted properly in respect of the loan and whether it was used to purchase shares and in doing so did Peace abuse his position as majority shareholder and Company Director? The outcome makes no material difference to the club.

So, S4A are going after Peace for using WBAFC as a vehicle for "dodgy" dealing, and the club might get some collateral image damage at worst?  Correct?

maybe due to my ignorance, however,
I prefer to be around people who can demonstrate immunity via vaccine than people who may be immune by acquisition naturally.

Please tell me there is an immunity test which natural acquisition can demonstrate and its being used and demonstrated by those folks and i will consider changing my viewpoint.
