The offer Luton made Alex Palmer would have earnt him more money per week than he is on with us this season in the premier league but if Luton were relegated he'd have been on less at Luton than he is with us.

the more i think about that and the rumoured money that Bartley is on i can't see this happening.
Bartley is on 0 next year though so if they offer an 18 month contract I’m sure he’d be interested.

I can’t see the full article, was it sold for 1.7bn or was that revenue or premiums?

Sold for at least $1.7 billion

If it’s the Patel family with Shilen Patel leading it then it should be exciting.

They will definitely have cash - below article says Dr Kiran Patel sold a company for at least $1.7 billion in 2018. https://www.bizjournals.com/tampabay/news/2018/04/26/kiran-patels-latest-big-deal-is-worth-more-than.html

I was put on the spot. I also believe it’s close but I’d never commit to timelines

Is the potential new owner involved in US sports?

Not too many. And usually only once.

Player trading will be big for us, only Dike, Grant and Diangana will be on the books at any value. Any other sales will be pure profit through the accounts. Plus a lot of the high earners are out of contract this summer.

We either get promoted this year and have a decent Pl budget or we stay in this league and have a huge reset. Exciting times imo.

I don’t know how it works but clubs like Villa create new shares often and that seems to bring funds in

Yep, plus sponsorships, naming rights, more corporate events. Biggest is obviously player trading which if done correctly we could make decent profits. Imagine Grant, dike and Grady are the only players on the books with values, the rest probably all written down so any fee would be pure profit against FFP.

No, because we can’t spend extra due to FFP limits

There are ways to get round FFP

More and more is leaking out, on balance it seems as though the new owners will not be the great owners that we all were wanting or maybe expecting. Lai just has to sell and beggers cant be choosers. The potential new owners are described as a medium sized company that are speculating on a promotion to turn a profit.

With all the leaks now happening it would suggest that things are now coming to a conclusion.

Don’t think it’s a medium company taking a punt, especially with a circa £60 million start up fee to buy off Lai and clear debts and then probably £30 million to keep us running with a similar squad towards end of next season. If they want promotion you can add a bit more on top.

I’m hearing there are people with links to Albion working on it so I imagine they’ll want what’s best for the club.

I suspect Jan / Feb is earliest any deal would be announced.

If article is correct Lai is due to grant period of exclusivity to preferred bidder within the next 10 days (which is said at this stage to be the American consortium); so that is around 22nd December to get to that point. Then looking at minimum few weeks for preferred bidder to complete due diligence and final contracts to be signed subject to passing EFL tests. Then they can announce the deal. I suspect recent MSD loan taken out precisely so bidders can't hold club to ransom over Jan window, i.e. we can get through that regardless.

I think a lot of the legwork has been done. It’ll be how long the EFL take to ratify the deal that takes time. Hopefully it gets expedited due to our potential position January onwards.

Clark Hunt and Patrick Mahomes is the rumour going about. Would be crazy to see mahomes be a partial owner, probably the biggest current American football player

You will need more than 60 million to buy us, as there will be running costs of our high wage bill to take into consideration

Of course you would need more than 60m to run the club, however I imagine a new owner would want promotion over the next couple of years so will know they’d need to put funds in.

Scratching my head here when hoping for a new owner, who in his right mind would take on a debt riddled club in short term for the owners valuation of £60 million with known legacy loans of £32 million plus interest. When in a year or two you can get a club in administration for a fraction of that with no debt.

The 60 million valuation includes debts. Lai would get circa £30m.

I would think something is close to happening tbh, otherwise we would have accepted the bid for BTA & a couple of the derisory bids we got for other players.

We won most of our games when he came in keeping it simple in a 4231. Why we’ve now decided to play the tedious football we do is beyond me.

This set of players are only equipped to do the basics.

Encouraging that there are multiple parties interested in taking over. If it were me, I’d be looking to do a deal asap before we have to deplete the squad.

As above, the loan is secured against 2.35% of shares. So either Lai pays the loan or warmfront gain 2.35%. Why would Lai offer more than 2.35%? I imagine warmfront will just let the interest build so a potential new owner pays it off.

Seems to be a bit of a cock up from warmfront to have the loan secured against a fixed 2.35% share of holdings. Probably explains why Lai borrowed from a heating company in Brierley hill rather than a proper lender…

We have to do everything we possibly can to try to stop it. It’s that important.

Hopefully not the Egyptian guy. Are there parties looking for a full takeover?

Evening,

If I can try to be of any help I will. Just a couple of things. There is no default on the Warmfront loan, however that £2m loan is now due in February 2024 and will be over £4m as we agreed to terms of 5% interest per MONTH. 79% APR. What we were intimating is that a partial sale, be it a minority investment, or potentially to offset an outstanding loan would be disastrous as it makes it even more difficult to achieve what we need, which is a full sale. I will post a tweet we compiled earlier on here.

I’ll try to ask any questions as honestly as I can.

Cheers

Ali

Is a partial sale close?

Strange lineup. Picked a defence that’s just conceded 4 to bolton & picked Chalobah who’s hardly played in pre season and is clearly allowed to leave. I’d be playing Pieters LCB & Kipre/Bartley RCB. Midfield should surely be Yokuslu, Molumby & Mowatt or swift.

Probably best keeper in the league last season. 3 years on contract, doesn’t want to leave and we’re even entertaining offers of £3mill. What have we become?!

From memory, the agreement meant that we paid HTFC over 6 seasons at around £2.5 million per season.
So, I think you're correct, we probably owe £5 million over two seasons.

If we could get a transfer fee of (say) £3 million, wouldn't that show as a profit of £500k for one season, & a loss of £2 million for the next season?
Wouldn't we have provided for a write down of £2.5 million per season on his asset value anyway?

If we sell a player on the books at 5 million for 3 million it would be a 2 million loss. Can’t still have an asset for next year on the accounts that’s been sold.

If we were sensible we would have wrote Grants & Dianganas values down by more when the parachute money was coming in.
