West Bromwich Albion FC / Stats for the season
« on: May 24, 2021, 06:54:07 PM »
Found this website that has some interesting stats for the season for all teams...

https://fbref.com/en/comps/9/Premier-League-Stats

Pierera in the top 6 of players doing the most nutmegs.  8)

The passing makes brutal reading though.  Second last pass completion rate.  Attempted fewest short passes, fewest medium passes, surprisingly only near the bottom for fewest long passes.  Bottom for passes along the ground, for low passes, but second top for attempting high passes.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Worst goals conceded last season?
« on: August 21, 2019, 12:21:35 PM »
Just talking to a Luton supporting friend and I mentioned how we conceded a fair few cheap goals last season trying to play it out from the back.  Can anyone remember the worst ones?

Anybody watching this?

What are the chances Jenkins is in the crowd looking for cheap options?  ;D

West Bromwich Albion FC / Losing points
« on: December 11, 2017, 01:17:34 PM »
We've lost a mammoth 10 points from winning positions this season, only team that's done worse is Newcastle.  Not good enough at all really, especially for a team set up so defensively.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Who Gives The Ball Away The Most In The Prem?

Craig Dawson is 5th - that doesn't surprise me as his distribution is probably the worst in the team.  Although, to be fair, at times he doesn't have a lot to aim at but he does tend to just hit direct balls up to lone strikers.

Also note that Fletcher isn't in that list despite apparently always giving the ball away.  And I've got to be honest, I'm surprised we haven't got more than 1 player in the top 20 :D

In the following link, sorry but it's the Daily Star...

They've crunched the numbers to grade each club on how many shots they have per 90 minutes of football.

We're joint 3rd top.  :o ;D

**** he bought last night.

http://www.thedailymash.co.uk/sport/sport-headlines/premier-league-chairman-wakes-up-wondering-who-the-naughty word-he-bought-last-night-20160901113166

Quote
A PREMIER League chairman has woken up in the boardroom with vague memories of going on a transfer binge late last night.

West Bromwich Albion owner Jeremy Peace regained consciousness face down on an oak table, to the sound of a fax machine spewing out pages and the nagging feeling that he made some impulsive decisions before midnight.

He said: “Who, or what, the **** is Allan Nyom?

“I only ask because I’ve got some paperwork here with his name all over it but no indication or whether he’s a striker or a midfielder or a goalkeeper or whatever.

“It’s the same every transfer deadline. I go after someone, I don’t get him, the green mist comes down and suddenly I’m bidding for every creative midfielder I can find footage of on YouTube.

“The last thing I remember is screaming down the phone in Spanish that I’d pay £32 million for Ricardo Carvalho, so how I ended up with Hal Robson-Kanu I don’t know. I thought he played for us already.

“Ah well, it’s only Chinese money. But Pulis is going to go mental.”

Peace then began repeatedly banging his head on the table after realising he had forgotten to sell Saido Berahino for the third window running.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Injuries
« on: January 20, 2013, 12:48:03 AM »
Just what's going on with them?

We seem to pick up injuries that don't appear that serious, so you imagine they'll be out 2 or 3 weeks.  Then it turns into 4 or 5, then 6 or 7.

Something like Gera is understandable, bad injury, lengthy time out.  But some players you think we'll be missing for a short while seem gone for ages.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Crouch not charged for eye gouge
« on: January 24, 2012, 06:32:25 PM »
So the FA have said he won't face charges because the ref said if he'd have seen it he wouldn't have sent Crouch off.

Must be ok to strike opposition players in the face now.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Competition In The Squad
« on: January 02, 2012, 03:59:06 PM »
Pre-season and early on there was a lot of talk about how much competition there is in the squad for places.  Is that still the case after Roy's comments?  Or has he wiped out any idea of competition for places by saying none of the bench would have improved a misfiring team against a poor Everton side?
How would you feel if you were Thorne, Dorrans or Tchoyi?

West Bromwich Albion FC / It's the last game of the season...
« on: September 25, 2011, 04:14:28 PM »
We're in the bottom 3 and need a win.  We set up and approach the game like we did in our last 3 games (Norwich, Swansea, Fulham), would you be happy with the keep it tight and play it long set up?
