I don't know what you're worrying about. With Townsend and Furlong the creators as marauding wing backs it's highly unlikely our goal line custodian will face balls into the box from open play on the counter to our high press.

Nothing to see here, everything will be fine whomever our number one is..... sit back, relax and enjoy the fun as our forward line helps itself to a glut of goals against inferior opponents who can't hope to compete with our wage bill.

Dunno if we need a keeper next season we will be so dominant, maybe Bartley as rush back if we ever let a team into our half.?

i will preface this with " based upon the very little i have seen of him" but Tulloch does seem to be one of those rare players who has the instinct for scoring goals. I think the lad has a great future in front of him.

I think you can. It certainly has scope for being a painful adjustment but and I hate myself for saying this get it right and they could emerge as a stronger team. However it is the balance and if things don't start well  the Villa can get very toxic very quickly and I would not be surprised to see Great Barr's finest out on his ear before the end of the season.

Music to my ears (in the main, I have already expunged 1 sentence from my memory) Thanks Stan

Look lads, i was consoling myself in the belief that Grealish wouldnt make the Mancs first team on a regular basis but you have scuppered that particular train of thought - thanks.

May i please cling onto the hope that the Vile will struggle without their talisman and fritter away the funds they will receive from the nice Arabic chaps? ultimately spiralling back into the obscurity of Division 3 as per the early 70's, events which which have been seemingly erased from the memory banks of the flippered contingent!

there is a fair bit of discussion about VI and style of play, recruitment to facilitate the style etc, my biggest concern about this is the clubs hierarchy having the tenacity to stick with a style / plan having recruited to fulfill the managers requirements.

If when the inevitable difficult times happen, the board supports VI and shows patience, we will be ok I think, However there is nothing at all in our recent past to support this view with confidence, we know from history that they will react and look for a quick fix and a new manager will have a different set of requirements. thus plunging us into another cycle of chaotic change and re-build.

I really HOPE the 4 year contract is a sign of change and a more rigid commitment to a plan, HOPE is the the problem, heart says thats what they need to do, head says that they will revert to type. As we all know its the HOPE that kills you.

Time will tell, all we can do is get behind VI and his team and pray the club will do the same through the inevitable adversity when it comes.

He'll walk into the team.

No mate, he'll get tackled by his own shadow and writhe around first !

Given the lack of money spent so far, I think loans could have a huge effect on the league this season. If any side gets a couple of prospects who really take to the championship and hit the ground running it could really propel them up the league.

Agreed, look at the stock piling by top clubs and there will be a load of decent surplus talent available I would imagine

It's really hard to see how they will manage to do that. I'd imagine he wants to win trophies and play in the top European competition...something Villa aren't going to be able to offer him.
Not sure he will make the man city first team, when you look at their MF options
DeBruyne / Foden / Zinchenko / Gundogen / Bernardo Silva / Fernandinhio / Rodri

absolutely staggering depth / quality

From the end of last season we lost: Gallagher, Maitland-Niles, Diagne, Yokuslu, Ivanovic, Gibbs, Peltier, HRK, Grosicki, Harper.

Those crossed out were largely irrelevant (rightly or wrongly), so we are 4 loanees plus HRK down, 2 in - so in real terms its not quite so bad and then we will again utilise loanees later in the window.

There will be a load of players available on loan due to clubs looking to reduce wage bills.

so what do we think the team will be ?

I'm sort of thinking

Furlong   Ajayi    Clarke  Bartley   Townsend
        Livermore    Mowatt
Robinson                Diangana

Subs, Palmer, O'shea, Zohore, Grant, Quevin, Sawyers,

from AFC Bournemouth site

Away fans visiting the Vitality Stadium are located on one side of the East Stand, with a typical allocation of 1,500, though this can be raised to 2,000 if required.

I would imagine that we will only get 1500, will be snapped up I imagine.

We had no part of that deal. Barry was free to discuss with other clubs.

fair point not a "deal" but shafted by Barca none the less

More to the point would I trust the WHUFC heirarchy - no, but in fairness thats only based on what i read and is likely mis-information. In reality we have dealt with them recently (Diangana) and will hopefully understand their integrity, we really dont want or need to get into deals that end up being "sorted" by regulators / courts.

If the "loan to perm" is solid i.e. there are no get out clauses (in the event of a serious injury for example), it would be possible to use the contract as a guarantee against a low cost cash loan. In effect, turning the loan contract for the player into cash.

I suspect that's what Huddersfield did with our agreement for Grant.

That was what I was thinking and on that basis, I'm not averse to a loan to perm.  Do worry about the integrity / longevity of WHUFC owners though.  Not like the Albion to get shafted in a deal is it ?? (Barca)

I am instinctively against a loan deal for MP, but, given the way deals are structured over long periods nowadays, is a loan to perm that much of a disadvantage over a "normal" structured sale???

Finance people???

Bit worrying if true that he doesn't rate Pereira. Does anyone have a link to this?

Early days but *feels* like we are potentially going from a team full of cloggers (Pulis) to a team full of tippy tappers (Bilic) to a team of athletes (Ismael)

Thats a brilliant summary to be fair, means Livermore was an athletic clogger in a tippy tappy Bilic team, pretty accurate TBH

I'm glad that none of the posters that think around £25m is reasonable are in charge of our club. Emiliano Buendía was sold to Villa for £38m and he managed 1 goal and 7 assists in 36 premiership games. Comparatively Pereira managed 11 goals and 6 assists in 30 premiership games. Undoubtedly Pereira is the better player with the bigger pedigree. Yet some of our fans think selling him for £13m less than Buendia is somehow a good deal when he has three years left on his contract - nuts.

There are 2 sides to the deal, if only we could find a club as "generous" as vile

Due to his age while he can run down his contract and as long as we offer him terms the club he joins has to pay us a reasonable transfer fee, if the two clubs cannot reach agreement that fee is determined at tribunal.

So yes we will get a transfer fee.

Good clarification, I didnt realise that was the key factor, thank you.

The key word is recommendation,
Its now proven that continually heading a ball will cause damage, the Astle family (Dawn particularly) have done a fantastic job in highlighting this issue, there has to be change, but agree that its a minefield in a game were heading is implicit in performing.

Again. Who on God's greenest earth would pay 8m for Semi Ajaye?

Serious question.
