Title: New kits 20/21
Post by: BB74 on July 07, 2020, 10:50:51 PM
First mock ups or genuine leaks?

Do we know how long the deal is with Puma? Hummel are making some great looking kits at the moment.

Nice. Won’t need the last one as there’ll some other social/environmental event to focus on.

If those shirts are close to true then I believe Mr. Horse said it best: “No sir, I don’t like it”

If the shirts are coming in from China, will they be required to have two weeks isolation before entering the shop?

If they are from China or anywhere in the far east I imagine they will spend much more than two weeks in containers in transit by sea and at various ports along the way

I agree. The government recommended time is 72 hours in any event so they will be on the shelves as soon as they arrive.

I've no idea how long the deal lasts but we're going with Puma again for the next season at least, the new training gear's been released today and it's Puma.......

No yellow and green training top that I can see, a hint we could be having A break with a possibly sky blue away kit? Justification then to have a third kit

Back to red for the away kit would be my guess.

Why can't we have a white second
strip like the 68 cup winning I think red socks?
With a white track suit with WBA in big red letters on,why yellow and green  so much?

I quite like the basic top....my preferred option would be to replace all the light blue with white, change the puma log to dark blue, and keep the dark blue shoulder/arm stripes. That would then hark back to the 68 cup-winning team with our crest standing out a treat.

Would love us to go barcode or something original, but seeing as most kits follow a basic template nowadays, i'm expecting another standard offering not much different to the last few.

Also want some form of red away kit.

For me a nice 70s style stripes  home would be lovely.

A full white number with red socks as a second

A full black as a third

Who will be the sponsor? I'm going gambling site.

Don’t like it at all but understand it. Never liked the original - even though I had all three! - but our club has a longer heritage than a couple of lower league seasons in the 90s. At least the stripes aren’t wobbly I guess!

Nostalgic and unique in the modern game.
Puma at least are designing kits just for wba we used to just get a rehash of a template with Adidas that one year us stoke and hull pretty much had the same shirt.

Is the away one going to match?

A lot of fans I know that experienced the 92-93 season would say it’s up there with their best seasons as an albion fan. My first one was 93-94 so it is sentimental.

Pet peeve of mine is shirts with badges printed on rather than sewn (bad experiences with putting printed stuff in the wash) but this looks to be sewn so happy about that.

Very much a fan of the shirt - loved the barcode 90s shirt and bought the retro version from the club shop a couple years back so this is great.

Let's hope there's some good memories wearing it.

Anybody know we’re I could get one of those shirts from ? After a size large , can’t find it anywhere
not even on the Manufacturer’s site, think you’re out of luck unless there’s one 2nd hand.

Its a retro shirt from 1990's, but its ok. Got a throstle badge. Just think there should be white socks and not blue.

I think the shirt is absolutely quality. Love it. Something different whilst still keeping tradition and a nice 90’s throwback. Only gripe is would have preferred white socks, but really love the shirt.

it doesn’t help because they’re also out of stock but if you’re large I’d get it in xl. Great quality remake but it comes up a touch small.

I purchased one of these bradleysrocket in 2018 when they were released as part of the 25th anniversary. It’s almost identical to the one my Dad wore when it was originally released but I will say it doesn’t wash very well (for the money).

That day at Pompey was incredible. Peggy Ashcroft, what a guy.

Best shirt in years was the shirt Gayle JRod shirt from last year. That reflected the proper heritage of the club, rather than the lowest ebb of the club. Despite the fact that I loved the Ardiles season he was dragging us out of the deepest decline in our history. That style of shirt, while it reminds me of the play off final, shouldn’t be seen as a good thing. And that’s coming from someone who had all three shirts as a teenager :)

At least the stripes aren’t wobbly this time - my ocd has definitely got worse.

I don’t get the comparison with the 90’s shirt. This is more bar code than the Squiggly top we had then. It would be interesting if the code actually means something. Like 1968. Probably £55 though.  I quite like it.

Apparently the away and third kit is the same template as the home.

Yellow and red anyone?  :D

Wonder what colour combo the 3rd kit would be then? If the away is Yellow and Red i don't think we'd actually need a 3rd kit as i can't think what we'd clash with?

Yes, but people will buy anything with the badge on, it’s about the money. Even claret and blue stripes would sell if it had our badge on it.

Also, why does the price of the shirts not increase in proportion to the size? A ‘small’ has a lot less material in it than, say, a XXL. Thin people are being ripped off!

I work in Corporate procurement and commercial contracts. The cost of the extra material is a fraction of a penny. It would be a negative value generator to calculate the difference and set the price gun to a different value.

This surely is the most poorly aimed post ever. I think what he's trying to say is, paying someone to cut slightly more material, then have it stitched together, doesn't make much difference cost wise. I would normally stand to be corrected, but I don't care. I'm still celebrating promotion.

Personally think it's a nice top in it's own right. I don't see how it or even the original bar code could be associated with a yo yo tag either. We went up wearing it and stayed up for a number of seasons without relegation prior to eventual promotion to the Prem'.

This new away shirt evokes memories of my first real season as an Albion fan 92/93 culminating in the play off final and my first and only old Wembley trip. They should have done some sort of promo with those old memories and Kevin Donovan, Andy Hunt, Bob Taylor and so on merging with the noobs but then it would depress me as it would have only really worked with Brunty. Probably why they didn't.

For me, these shirts are fantastic and I think it's great that the club along with the sponsors/kit makers etc are doing things to connect with the fans.

It also works for them as they get to make loads of money.

It also works for them as they get to make loads of money.

Somebody should check twitter before he posts things https://twitter.com/WBA/status/1289486275821658113 (https://twitter.com/WBA/status/1289486275821658113)

I've never bought an away kit, as for me, the club's identity is blue and white.
Same apart from the black ones. They good to wear in the pub shopping etc.
Green and yellow ok on the pitch. But I don't want to walk round dressed as a "marrow".Thank you!

It was a week and two days since we announced the home. I’d imagine it will be about the same.

It amuses me how every summer how our fan's wet themselves over a new shirt. They are more interested over a shirt and a pair of shorts than who we might be signing, mind you we know we will get a shirt. It's no wonder the club show's no ambition if fan's get excited over a shirt. Let me tell you something about a shirt, it's a piece of fabric mass produced by slave labour in sweat shop factories and sold at an extortionate price. It loses half it's value before Yuletide and is still overpriced. Getting excited over shirt's. A pig would laugh.🐷

I’d understand that criticism if we were all the chief executives, but we are not, we are just fans.

Putting on a new shirt always takes me back to the first Pelada shirt I was given as a kid in 1994/5 I think. It takes you back to that first walk up through the ticket barrier, up the steps, and seeing that wide angle view of a professional pitch from the Brummie Road end. That excitement, that new feeling that you got the first time you ever went to a game.

It’s sentiment and romance, and without it the game wouldn’t bring much pleasure!

I’m still looking for the copa 92 remake , I brought the XXL off the website cause that’s the only size left but it’s way to big . The actual chest size ain’t to bad , big but it doesn’t look ridiculous but the length comes like a women’s nightie  :D

I got my daughter the 5-6 new one as that’s the size she was in last years tops . Last years tops still fit her fine , she wore one the other day but this 5/6 shirt was abit to small for her so that’s got to go back as well  :(

One to small one to big

If anyone knows of any large or even extra larges of that 92 copa remake for sale , brand new or second hand let me know please

This seasons home top is very sentimental to me , it was the first shirt I had in 93 . The fact it’s my daughters first home shirt ( she had the purple away top last season ) as well makes it even more sentimental.

I don’t normally do shirts but that’s why I’m after that remake of the 92 shirt , I want to wear that and my daughter will wear the new one . That was my first and this is her first  8)

No need to apologise.Sorry I have an opinion you find a tad odd.
I am more concerned about who we get to wear it.
I like it for what it's worth.
Blue and white stripes in all the designs. Liked them all.

Don't think any of our fans are more interested in a new shirt than who we sign, just that they are interested in both.

Just got the home shirt for my birthday - i got the purple one last year and one difference i've noticed is the badge being embroidered on - nice touch. Is this usual for the home shirts? It's been a while since i had one, i tend to buy away/3rd shirts these days.

I haven’t brought an adult shirt but I brought my daughter the 5/6 year old shirt . She had that size last season and both those shirts still fit her fine . The new home 5/6 shirt was tight on her so I’ve had to send it back to get the next size up , just hoping the next size up 7/8 isn’t to big now

Medium was fine for me and i'm not a skinny mini. Medium was fine for me last year as well if that helps, sizing seems the same as last years kits which weren't as snug as the previous year.

I heard a whisper a while back that they were intended on running down the lease but not sure when it ends. They only want the stadium megastore and will focus online sales. I’m just assuming they will now mothball the Merry Hill shop and try and do a deal with Intu/Administrators. Just a guess though.

I like the home shirt, it’s grown on me. I also loved the red and yellow as a young kid, so thought I’d like this one.

However I really hate how they’ve also changed the badge and sponsors on the 2nd and third kits. The amount I dislike it is probably irrational but I really hate it. Makes the shirts look cheap IMO.

Exactly this. Puma taking an interest in club history and treating us with respect rather than churning out template rubbish like adidas did.

Not a fan of red and yellow. But I respect the idea behind it. The other 2 I like but I base that on yellow and green being our traditional away colors

Just checked it was the green and yellow Shirt that we used in the promotion year and the first premier league year that was the last shirt we used twice

Have we any idea why the goalkeeper stuff isn't out yet? I'm guessing it'll be generic Puma GK. So we'll have the same as Man City?

____________________________________________________________________________

Update:
______

Just checked. Man City, Palace and Newcastle are also made by Puma. GK tops are all the same design, just different colours, green, black, yellow and a shock pink.

Given the 2nd and 3rd kits I guess black for the away and green for the home.

Still not sure why ttthey've not been announced though?

3rd shirts have been around since the 1930's so I'm not sure how much of a ploy it is but I agree with you in that I can't see who our away kit is going to clash with since both Norwich and Watford got relegated?

Then all the fans should boycott shop merchandise, are we truly a tribe of supporters or just spectators

The club has had some lay-offs to save money.

We should punish them by not giving them any more money.

Causing more lay-offs when the club finds out it doesn't have as much money.

It's like all those people on Twitter saying Wetherspoons should be boycotted because of how they treated their staff at the beginning of the pandemic. If enough people boycott, then suddenly those people don't have jobs at all.

Covid will be used as an excuse to re structure or clear out some of the 'Dead Wood' in many organisations.

I won't give Lai a penny of my money anymore. That's my protest if you will.

Plenty will though as is their right.

I think we have to look at ourselves though.

The majority of us (myself included) will either pre-order items and order online.

There is no longer a demand for retail - especially in such a small client base.

I can understand why the club are making changes to its operation if the club shop is no longer justifying its expense.

It does leave a sour taste though that people are now out of work whilst we argue about how many millions we have to spend.

Unfortunately, that's how the world is moving..

To be honest I can't see us ever needing to use it
When are we ever going to have blue and white AND yellow and green clashing with anything
It's just a ploy to sell more shirts
They will wear it once only, like they did last season (at Hull)

Probably got intercepted by the manager who thought you'd show em up.

There really isn't any excuse for the club to be this bad at this stuff year on year. I'd expect experienced amateurs to be better than this.

I’d say we are very poor commercially
Take the new kits.....no letters or numbers yet , so people have ordered without, very few of which will bother to get 5hem printed later
However, despite not having the numbers/letters.....they could still be takin* “advance orders” which would
A) increase the turnover
B) get the money in the bank now

Then there’s the “trilogy of kits”....hardly anyone is going to buy all 3....but if you but 2 get the 3rd half price ?....

I’m warming up 😂

Just google dhgate and search West Bromwich Albion and you’ll get loads.

Apparently the wait can be long and sometimes you get absolute shockers but for that price and just needed a couple of kickabout tops I thought I may give it a try

The clubs shirts are way overpriced. £55 for something that cost £5 to make is ridiculous!
You can buy a Marc Darcy 3 piece suite for £150.00 !!
£15 tops is reasonable.
I know all clubs do it but times are changing.

If you want a more retro shirt, these are very good quality and much cheaper than the originals.

Not that I think it needs much pointing out to those who post here, but for those who only read this forum:

Do be aware that any recent merchandise bought from free-for-all marketplaces like eBay or international wholesale-type places like AliExpress or DHGate are almost certainly not authentic.

]Apparently the wait can be long and sometimes you get absolute shockers but for that price and just needed a couple of kickabout tops I thought I may give it a try

Of course, if you have no issue with the often huge lead times and quality / accuracy, it's usually quite cheap (and cheerful?)
For instance clothing is rarely high risk and so it's fine. It's worth being much more cautious when buying higher value items or things that may pose hazard (like children's toys, electric scooters, etc).

I'll leave the ethics of such products to others. :-X

I would be wary buying shirts for kids, the wrong materials will melt when exposed to heat and can inflict horrible burns, as an adult you know the risk / benefit (cost) and can weigh that up for yourself.

Also, don't buy them for your kids. Better to not have one as they'll be obviously fake from a mile and kids are animals. The taunting will be terrible

My lad bought Barcelona and PSG shirts in Spain last year and the quality was brilliant. Came with Nike tags and looked like the real thing. It is only the badges that look a bit different but hardly noticeable. I'm going to buy a fake Albion one and see what its like. Worth the gamble at under £15.

Lots more to worry about than how football shirts fit. Personally, I couldn’t care less, I wouldn’t be seen dead in any of them!

Well - that person obviously does have time to ask and does worry about it so why single them out?!

I had medium in that violet shirt last year and this year's kit is a similar fit.

All i can say is i asked the question in the Merry Hill shop and they ssid they where coming up small again. I am usually XL had the Purple last year had to have XXL. As you can't try them on i think you are fine asking the question. Some folks just have to moan about everything!!

Puma kits are always fitted, to put it bluntly... if your fat go for a size up to what you usually wear.  ;D

Great if you have an average shape body and figure, but if your on the larger side you'll moan they run small  :D

I wasn’t going to buy it as not too keen on the new shirts. Slowly the home one has grew on me, and I think it’s nicer seeing it with my own eyes, as seen people in public wearing it.

But I won one on the Coca Cola competition, so getting it for free  :P

I’m Large in normal T-shirt’s. Some previous Albion shirts, I’ve been Large too. But last seasons violet, I had a Large, and it was against my belly, not tight.. just could see it a little. So went for XL, which fits me fine. It’s not too loose and not too tight.

I’m not fat though, well maybe got a small belly on me recently, lose half a stone and I be fine again.
I’m 6ft 2, so larger build. Also find large or XL are better in length.

Yeah, always someone with attitude   ??? ::)
