Good first signing, decent age, a position we need to strengthen, leadership qualities, low cost

Allows Ismael somebody  who fits his system straight away. At 26 he isn't young any more but hopefully a slightly late bloomer. On a free you can't moan at all.

Should be hitting the peak of his career. He's not one for a resale I don't think, but i imagine he is viewed as Ismael's voice on the pitch. Would not be surprised to see him usurp Livermore as the club captain.

I'm very pleased by this news, he'll definitely add a lot to us in a position where we desperately need it.

Mowatt and Marcondes would be pretty much an instant first choice central midfield certainly for the coming season. If I had a slight quibble they might be both be the sort of player that probably haven't got enough upside potential if we were promoted but that is the slightest of quibbles. Both all rounders who can work well in a high press.

John Percy tweets that he is booked in for a medical later this week.
This is good business on a free.
Makes perfect sense having been Ismail’s captain

Think we'd get better money for Sawyers but would rather Livermore went (if we're only getting rid of one of them).
I'm don't think Sawyers is the right player to suit Ismael's style of play, so hopefully we can replace both of them.

Just got Mowatt and another midfielder and we could keep them as backups and let them go when their contracts expire end of season.

Not sure about Marcondes. Val wanted him at Barnsley so maybe just lazy journos. I think we need better players with the potential to play in the prem. Strange Brentford letting him go after scoring in the play off final.

Contract ran down innit. Not a matter of them letting him go, I don't think.
At the age of 26, its not unreasonable to think we'd have a decent chance of moving him on if we went up and he didn't step up. Gotta get there first, and I think he's a good get.
My midfield shopping list would be Mowatt, Hamer, Marcondes and O'Brien (from H'Field).

It has to be a good sign if Mowatt is keen to play for Ismael again and vice versa.

Or we could get money for them now and bring in other better central midfielders to provide proper competition given the style of play that Valerien wants to use. This would seem to be perfectly feasible as we're currently signing free transfers.

if there was anyway of getting Yokuslu back (on a promotion or let you go deal ?) then we would be looking a lot stronger, I could see Mowatt / Yokuslu being a Mulumbu / Yacob type of pairing (same initials too - Bizarre !!!)

Good to see this moving forward.

Always good to have a player in who knows and believes in the new managers style of play, helps create taht link between manager and his newly earned squad.

I'm more than up for that but i can't see anyone paying anything decent for Livermore or Sawyers sadly.

One, their transfer values are nominal going into final years of contracts. Two, no one is going to match their wages. We're stuck with them I fear. Luckily neither will be in the team!

Want a bet ?  A fit Livermore is a different animal to the bulked up version. IMO, He can do a reasonable job at Chumps level, will he be **** off if Mowatt comes in and takes "his" armband? depends how he reacts to that, I'd like to think he will fight for it.

I think Livermore will play majority of the season, if he buys into the fitness plan then I think he plays a part of VI.

Sawyers is a difficult one, whilst I don’t see him upping his fitness levels to the required level, his passing ability may be useful. Still think he has a future here if he isn’t played DM.

Happy with the Mowatt signing if it comes through. VI previous captain and knows the system well.
