West Bromwich Albion FC / The Albion in Bethnal Green

I've just moved to London for a year, so will sadly be absent from the Devon minibus.

Has anybody ever to The Albion in Bethnal Green? If so, what's it like?

Am looking for a pub to watch some of the games in, any London baggies have suggestions?

General Football & Sports / FA Cup Final

Just around the corner..

Who do you think will win?

Hoping Di Matteo's Chelsea will beat "King Kenny" and the scousers. I can see Chelsea winning myself, especially after such a good result against QPR. Torres to score the winner.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Watching the Albion in Berlin?
« on: January 22, 2012, 06:49:27 PM »
This is a shot in the dark...

I'm going to Berlin for a week at the end of the month as part of my university course, and am gutted to be missing the Fulham and Swansea games.

I was wondering if anybody knew of any sports bars in Berlin that might be showing the games?

All the doom and gloom on the boards at the moment..

Hopefully Albion's 'Bloopers Reel' can cheer us up.

The dancers at the Fulham game was very funny, gotta feel sorry for them though!

West Brom need quality signings in January, admits Hodgson.

West Bromwich Albion boss Roy Hodgson wants to bring in new quality signings but is uncertain whether he will be given the financial backing.

Hodgson was speaking after seeing his side lose 1-0 at home to Everton after Victor Anichebe scored in the 87th minute.

Hodgson, whose current contract runs out this summer, said: "If we are going to have a good season, we need some help. Whether there are players out there who can help is another matter.

"I'd like to think we have got to the stage where the type of players that would help us would cost money and demand high wages.

"I'm not certain at the moment that is the way we are looking to go forward.

"I'm not interested in bringing bodies or extra names into the club unless I am sure they are better than what we have got."

Hodgson was disappointed his side failed to hold on for a share of the spoils after collecting seven points from the previous three games.

He said: "It was a 0-0 sort of game. Both teams defended quite well and I thought nullified each other somewhat.

"But it wasn't a 0-0 game, that's the point. It was a 0-1 game. The 0-1 games - especially when the goals come so late, as it did against Stoke earlier in the season - are the hardest results to accept.

"I'm very disappointed we couldn't continue what has been a very good run in the last three games and continue playing the same level of football.

"Today we've given three very big points to our rivals. They did well enough to deserve a draw but must be feeling very grateful that we gifted them a goal three minutes from time.

"I don't think we created that many chances. I don't think it was as good a performance attacking-wise."

Albion Matchday Forum / Substitutions
« on: September 24, 2011, 11:40:07 PM »
Is it just me that fails to see the benefit of bringing an impact sub (e.g. Tchoyi) on in the 82nd minute? Today we could've done with an extra push muchq earlier, still confused by the lack of movement on the subs bench.

12 mins (including stoppage) most times isn't enough for a player to make an impact.

West Bromwich Albion FC / International Break
« on: August 29, 2011, 09:20:41 PM »
I usually hate the international break due to the Albion not playing.
But in hindsight I think we really need a break after those first three games to get ourselves back together, for what will be a run of 5 winnable games.

General Football & Sports / Joey Barton: "I'm the best in England"
« on: April 08, 2011, 08:01:41 AM »
http://www.teamtalk.com/newcastle-united/6856812/Barton-I-m-the-best-in-England

"Honestly, I think I'm the best [English midfielder]," Barton told the French magazine So Foot. "Luka Modric and Samir Nasri are very good, but in terms of English players... well, Jack Wilshere isn't bad, but Frank Lampard's on the way down and Steven Gerrard's been injured a lot.

"I'm English and I love playing for my country.

"Maybe the people at the top have a problem with me. I don't know. But the trouble I had was four years ago. They should be able to forgive, shouldn't they?"

One word - deluded.
