Take Livermore out of the middle and it allows us to play more football.

Tactics are different.  We're not just smashing it forward from Ajayi\Bartley\Townsend.

You wouldn't know that we're this "long ball, high press" team from this game.  We look like a 'normal' football team.

Perhaps having Snodgrass in midfield allows us to play a bit more. Livermore for all his efforts is poor on the ball.

Football is better today. Not nonstop panic and hoofing. There is a time for that and a time for playing football and that's when we are at our best when we mix it up.

Any coincidence that Livermore isn't playing?

I do wonder how players like this make it into the professional game.

Painful viewing yet again. The move for the goal was superb. Why dont we get it down and play more often?

Why didn't this stoke turn up against us

Perhaps we made them look good.

I didn’t know much about him before he signed other than he had a poor goal scoring record. I expected him to be a lot bigger and physically stronger than what he is. I just can’t see any positives to his game. Another poor signing.

Darren Moore getting pelters on the Wednesday forums.. good chunk of them want him gone..

Surely it’s all Graeme Jones’s fault.  :D

He has too many flaws in his game to ever become No 1 in any half decent side IMO. Any bigger club like Spurs will pick him up on a free as a backup.

I disagree.  Even at this level an all round goalscorer costs serious bunce which we apparently don't have to spend.

I'm not so sure that they do if you have decent scouting. Ours is pretty non existent. The signing of Hugill highlights this.

Who on earth voted for Livermore? :o

Tonight highlights the lack of squad depth. We are desperate for a good number 9 and central midfielder.

I must comment on our gk
I think he's OK and I'm not knocking him but can he speak?
There seems to be no communication whatsoever between him and his defenders or am I imaginig it?
For what its worth I'd cash in on him at Christmas.

Assuming anyone wants him. There were no takers in the summer. He’ll be decent back up for a Prem side on a free next summer.

Livermore looked as composed as I’ve ever seen him play.

Livermore is awful. Slow, cumbersome and looks so uncomfortable with the ball at his feet. Runs around a lot but squanders possession too often. If Molumby can’t oust him then why on earth was he signed?

I’m no fan of Val ball and have concerns about us going forward. However to put things into perspective we have the same points after 8 games as we did under Bilic. We have a inferior squad now to what we had back then IMO. Any criticism at the moment should be directed at the board for such a pathetic transfer window.

We lack quality all over the pitch. The sooner we sign a decent striker and replace Livermore for a footballer the better.

I can't see any obvious strengths or even any glimmer of one. He's a very poor player who's had one decent season in his career. He'll be back at Charlton within a couple of years.

Circumstances...

When the COVID shut down hit we were 5 points clear of Leeds at the top of the Championship and Bielsa burnout was in full swing.

When Liverpool hit 7 at Palace in late December they had lost 1 game and were 4 points clear at the top of the Premier League and 8 points ahead of Machester City. Gomez and Matip followed VVD onto the treatment table and that was all she wrote...

Top 6 a good achievement? Top 6 is the absolute worst Ismael must deliver based on the other 23 teams in this division.

This is my concern for us. Playing such a high intensity with a wafer thin squad is a recipe for disaster.

I think clement played left back and kept him very quiet. May have been robbo.

Clement put in a couple of firm challenges early on. He didn’t fancy it after that.

Ajayi has pace to get us out of trouble. With a high line this is vital. Would be madness to let him go unless we get a silly offer.

Is it the club messing about or idle or fevered speculation from the click-bait sites?

I’d be very concerned if Hugill was one of our prime targets. If he’s the best we can come up with then I doubt we’ve tried very hard.
