From players I have seen first hand in an Albion shirt, it just has to be Kevin Bartlett and Lloyd Dyer. They were lightening quick. Bartlett in particular used to knock the ball yards in front of him and just run onto his own through-ball! Often he would mis-judge it and over hit it and he would end up looking useless!
Regarding Lloyd Dyer,I always rated him highly. I remember sitting in a pub in Newcastle Under Lyme waiting for an ex to finish cutting someone's hair a few years back. It was when we still had Lloyd Dyer on our books but was on loan at Coventry. Adrian Heath, the then Coventry assistant manager, was sat in the pub with some Dutch bloke whose name escapes me who was then assistant manager at Stoke. I asked Adrian Heath what he thought of Dyer. He said "He's quick but Linford Christie is quick, it doesn't mean he can play football". I was surprised by his assessment of him, I thought Lloyd Dyer had much more to his game than just pace and I think it's fair to say he has gone on to have a half decent career.
