Not all deals get done immediately and after the players aware he may have some say in pushing it through. Can see this going on until near end and then either get our man or end up with god knows

Covered all possibilities there haven't you.  :D

I would think that Fitzwater coming back is to cover for Tosin, can't image any parent club would want players cup tied.

I thought Fitzwater was definitely going back to Walsall after the Wigan game?

Where we getting £60m from when all our owners money is stuck in China?

Gayle can be swapped + cash for Rondon if Newcastle stop up, if toon go down we're looking at either moving rondon and using the money to buy gayle, buying gayle and keeping rondon or keeping rondon and giving him another try over giving gayle another try in the prem.

Dack can be bought, we have enough surely for one player.

Barnes is the only one that isn't realistic. Leicester would be fools to let him go.

That team looks to weak I don't want us to throw the game, but if we are I would prefer we use our kids rather than mears and hoolahan.

Mine would be:
                  myhill

     Dawson Tosin Hegazi

  HRK Harper Barry Townsend

             Hoolahan

      Burke Rodriguez

Bench: Johnstone Bartley brunt  field Livermore Phillips Gayle

Just a few kids and some ammunition on the bench to give it a go if we fall behind.

I wouldn't for the life of me put HRK RWB. Think you may have him and Burke mixed up.

Personal taste but I've always had a problem with the liquidator. Some fans like a bit of agro from a distance with opposing fans in the ground but I like to have a chat  to a few of them in the pub....I don't then want to tell them to f*** off during the liquidator.

I suggest you start going to watch the netball or something then mate. You can chat to them in the pub by all means, i doubt they're going to pick you out of a crowd when everyone's singing about the dings. Then I really doubt you're going to see them in the pub after the game.

They're just finding out McClean tries hard but doesn't really do anything football wise.  ;D

The oatcake shall be renamed the meltdowncake this season.

There's nothing we could do about the Wolves eventually overtaking us due to their vast wealth, same with Villa (if it all happens).

As for ourselves, we were always playing cat and mouse anyway and eventually got caught. It's football and it happens. Lets face it, unless you have a billionaire willing to spend big, you will at some point get relegated.

Exactly this.

Only Everton will be next to drop out of the ones that haven't been relegated from the prem yet.

Anyone knows the deal with Chadli? I thought he was likely to move on this summer, if so, his stock his only going to rise with his performances at the WC. I just hope there's no low release clause due to relegation.

Walsall supporting pal of mine said Sawyers has the ability, very good player. Obviously overlooked when he was here or a later bloomer. Either way, £3m is a steal, maybe not for someone we let go, but least it's not £90m like pogba ha.

Whether he could cut it in the prem is a different kettle of fish.

I don't think you can compare the scoring rates of a player playing for a top Russian side and again for a team that's lower to mid table Prem.  Or put it this way, a 1 in 2 striker in the Prem will be one of the top strikers in the world.

Correct. 19 goals a season will get him moved to a top 6 team.

To my knowledge the first time anything like that has been posted on here. Very interesting, thank you and good luck with the run-in.

Nah there's a spurs fan that used to do them, hilarious his efforts are, it's on youtube somewhere.

Like I said, a 9 and 10. 9 Indicating a Centre Forward, 10 Indicating someone playing behind a striker. All three capable of playing there, Zaha probably not so much but he could up top in my opinion, with the 10 role being Siggurrdsons best. Puel has also said he believes the central role is where Mahrez can be most dangerous.

So there's no agreeing to disagree here. You're wrong. Exxception being Zaha who would be an unkown

Well done you. On a thread we're signing a good player on loan for the rest of the season with possible view to make it permanent, you've managed to win an argument about who's better.

All that matters is he's better than what we have. Imagine Gregz and Chadli supplying him.

Most Walsall fans rate him and reckon if he was playing with better players he'd be much better than he is. However, they also say, £4m at the moment is probably a little too much, but give him a few years and he could be well worth than, and more.

It's hard, because if you sell him for £4m to leeds and we get relegated, we've basically sold him to a promotion rival. Then you watch him have a stormer and go to a prem team the year after for £20m.  ;D
On the other hand, if we give him a chance in the prem, it's a risky one as we could fall flat on our face if he doesn't perform and we're stuck with someone who couldn't cut it.

Ideally, for me, he'd stay at Walsall till the end of the season and we can make our minds up then.

« on: January 21, 2018, 06:33:25 PM »
There was a meeting last week before the Brighton game and all the players have 50% wage cut except 2 players which were unnamed. There are also two players that have a relegation release clause but the figure is higher than what we paid for them. Again they remained unnamed

That's good to hear and also good to hear we're still conducting business relatively well.

Gutted Flores turned them down. I had 20 quid on him at 22/1 earlier in the week. Took the mrs out for a slap-up meal on the basis he'd come in to 1/6.

Ah well, Megson is about 8/1 now.  :D

A good friend of mine last night in the pub genuinely claimed he'd seen a photo of Mendes and C.Ronaldo in....wait for it....Bentley Bridge.  :o :o ;D ;D

They're getting too big for their boots if you ask me. They've been double relegated, smashed their own ground up lost 5-1 to us on their own turf in recent years. All of a sudden they're winning the championship and they're getting some money spent and they think they're going to win the champions league in 3 years.

Mendes will get bored soon and use someone else for his money. Anyway, they drew at Barnsley yesterday so this is where the wheels start coming off.

The problem is bong is from the Cameroon and from what Trump said in the week about Africa countries being s***eholes it was a silly gesture to make.

Don't be so stupid. Do we have to check every news article in recent weeks before we say something nowadays? I doubt JRod has even heard Trumps comments.

If he was saying he stank or his breath stank then that's fine. There is nothing racist about it. Only those making some link between his country of origin and his lack of hygiene are making it racist.

Our insistence on existing is precisely the reason we are and should stay in the prem. Not over spending and going out of business, not breaking FPP, not being sold to some dodgy owners who hurt the fans etc etc.

You could name dozens of clubs who have 'entertained' and who are now completely pointless. Pompey, Leeds, Blackburn, Charlton, Fulham etc. etc. etc.

Hilarious tossers ay they. Their result gave me almost as much pleasure as us going through, and gave a little light relief to Peterborough turning us over last year... that said I think Peterborough are pretty good to be honest. Well especially now.

Peterborough are a guaranteed acca loss every week. They lose all the games they should win and win all the games they should lose or draw. Every game is btts until you put that exact bet on and it finished 0-0. Very unpredictable but quite entertaining to watch I'd imagine.

Glad they turned the seals over, they might be coming off the c##ts list.

Real problems at the back, they could be swapping places with us if they don't sorting it out.

West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Who's starting to become resigned
« on: January 01, 2018, 07:29:51 PM »
I genuinely can't understand the mindset of being ok with being relegated and out of the top division.  What's the point of competing in the Championship if promotion isn't something you want?

Ask fans of all the other league clubs if they'd rather be in their league or in the Prem, the vast vast majority would swap places with us.

It's all down to results - if we win fans will be happy, if we struggle, they'll be unhappy.  If we were struggling  in the Championship the fans would be as unhappy as they are now.

Of course they would, but ask fans of teams who've been in the prem for 6,7,8,9 years, doing nothing but finished 8th-17th. They'd say yeah i'll swap with shrewsbury for a year and play in League 1, go to all the obscure proper football stadiums around the country.

If you ask me, it's exciting when you go on a run and you're safe by march and you can just enjoy the football, but then you'll go on a bad run and it feels like 'what's the point?'

I suppose you could just hope you stop in the prem for decades and attract the next generation of football supporters in the region and you start getting 40k+ every game without having to play a local derby or a top 4 club. Then you can maybe (MAYBE) step up to attract the better calibre of player and you flirt with europe and have a good run and you manage to do it for a few seasons and then nothing because leeds, newcastle, everton and fulham did that and all of them are in worse positions.

Maybe i sound cynical but when you step back and look at the league structure and football on a whole, it's just boring after a bit. Bring on the 'European Elite League' so the likes of us can push for a top 4 finish and compete with everton and southampton for the league title.

I'm slightly resigned, but who wants to stay in the Prem anyway? Look outside the top 6 and there's only everton who have managed to stay in the prem for a long time. You need to spend hundreds of millions to constantly attract the best managers and players to stay in the league, otherwise, you do well for 5-10 years and inevitably have a slump and you end up dropping.

Over the next 10 -15 years the entire bottom 10 will be completely different teams who have a good team, come up do well for a few years because they spend a bit and their best players stay, but then they leave or retire and they have a few dodgy signings and off they go back down the leagues.

If/when we go down, we've had a good innings, we were comfortable mid table finishers for 5 years and no we're dropping out to start it all over again. We're not going to win the league, we're not going to do a Portsmouth or wolves and drop down 2 divisions. This is the best we can hope for unless we get the citeh treatment or move our club to London.

Let the dings have their fun the next couple of years because it'll all change again. Too, too predictable.
