The difference is the level of fitness for me. We just look constantly leggy and slow. Villa, Leeds etc looks seriously ahead of us in these stakes.

But it’s not just physical fitness we look mentally tired which is where the mistakes come from in the second half of games.

Since the return after covid this has been a major issue. Sav never solved it, we have to hope Sam can but I can only see this happening with around 5 or 6 new players.

This won’t happen with this board.

I think the board will have given Allardyce assurances that he will have money to spend in the window. I'm assuming Allardyce was satisfied with the money offered otherwise why take the job?

I have a feeling he thought the team was better than this, whereas we've known this team is miles away from staying up an outsider might think, they've got some half descent players. Only when you are in the bubble does the real horror become apparent.

We've been shocking for an entire calendar year now, a manager isn't going to change that without serious personal changes.

one positive is at least Sam is going to conned into thinking things might be ok with a couple of loans in Jan, if he wants to keep his record he and the board need to be in the market right away Jan.

Although we all know this wont happen. I already have a  horrible feeling that Sam will walk end Jan with the lack of funds int he Jan market making his job impossible.

I’m not too worried about Allardyce - he’s a highly experienced professional.

My biggest worry is more fundamental - this is a terrible side well out of its depth. He’ll deserve the freedom of the borough if he manages to keep this lot up - in fact, 20 points looks a severe stretch right now.

Any manager can only work with the material available.

I’m amazed he took the job on. It’s far too big for any manager unless they change the entire team in Jan. Which won’t happen here, I predict 2 loans.

Our lack of fitness and discipline is seriously worrying. It's one thing not being good enough quality wise but to be so unprofessional is not acceptable

The fitness is shocking.

The more you look at it the more it does really look like cheating.

We get nothing.

I’ve switched off again.

I think a yellow was more than enough for that.

Keeper didn’t get a booking for his handling outside the area but our player gets 1 card, then rescinded then upgraded.

Bored of football

This. Something is seriously wrong and you can’t help but feel the refs certainly have it in fir us.

I’ll say this. He’s never been relegated, I have a feeling this club might just put pay to that.

I’ll give the Albion this, they’re certainly testing my commitment to the club.

He wasn’t perfect but he was doing a bloody good job given the shocking backing this year.

Big Sam will certainly be starting behind the eight ball and I don’t mean with the squad, how many fans are going to want him here?

No point in playing like we did at Fulham and then putting in a performance like that today and getting nothing. We’ve been here before and it’s the hope that kills you, I just don’t have that same hope anymore.

We’ll be down by early next year and nobody should be surprised, least of all the board.

A complete waste of a season bar the horrible Prem money.

We know the players aren’t good enough but setting them up like that was unforgivable.

I can’t see him making the end of November I’m afraid and frankly after that I’m not sure I’m as bothered as I thought I might be.

I do wonder if this is less of a media issue simply because "newly promoted club doesn't spend a lot of money in an uncertain pandemic-hit world" isn't really much of a story.

I we had blown through 60m, we might be way happier as fans but I would have thought that would have been a bigger media story

Well they've had a tentative swipe at the owner but not sure this represents the anger amongst a large percentage of fans.

What is surprising me is how little the local media seem to be reporting on the lack of a 'go' by the club.

In years gone by they'd have been all over this but this year there's almost as much silence as there is from the club.

Apathy really has set in and that's a huge worry.

I’m tired of having a go at the players, they’re just not of the standard required in this league. Southampton are a low prem level of quality and the difference today was shocking.

Not worth getting angry or annoyed about I’m afraid.

We will be relegated unless Slav finds an utterly magically system which isn’t going to happen.

Shame but nobody should be too surprised.

Certainly a serious wake up.

The club will need to look at the loan market seriously. The entire defence is shot

The directive to refs this season was use the monitors and check so it’s YOUR decision.

My guess is Slav has reminded him of this and not to hide behind VAR.

I’d forgot what that looked like.

For me I think we need at least two forwards with pace. Austin and HRK are just horribly slow.

We aren't playing well, he's not been particularly disagreeable today.

I guess I’m just sick of him always doing it when he commentates on us.

Any chance someone can nip up to the ground and give Don Goodman a kick when he’s finished running us down after 90mins.

I'd take him now.

I just can't get my head around the decision to play an untested system on our first game back in the premier league. Not only was it untested but it alienated many of the players - Pereira and Diangana were pushed high but whenever they got the ball, there was little to no support other than each other with Leicester players swarming around them. Robinson was left on his own when inevitably we got deeper and Pereira and Diangana dropped deep to get the ball. Livermore tried but Sawyers looked lost in the middle as he was unable to sit and dictate the pace of the game when we had possession like he had done the previously.

The one thing that stands out to me is that I dont actually know what our style of play is. The teams that have come up and done well all have a distinct way of playing - Sheff Utd, Wolves and probably this year Leeds. Whereas, ourselves and Fulham to an extent, we kind of knock it about nicely but then sometimes counter attack (hence being better away from home) but I honestly couldn't describe our style.

This is spot on for me. we've hugely lost our way and if Slav is going to change formation all the time now we just don't have the quality of players to do this. They struggle to cope with one system nowadays. It was painfully obvious when he went to a back 4 yesterday after the goal that they hadn't got a clue what to do and we just surrendered position to the opposition.

For me press and press hard, this only requires high fitness levels and not a huge skill level. We just aren't good enough to play it around looking for the killer pass, it just never comes.

He was just a big shoulder shrug towards the end as the gulf in quality between the teams became horribly apparent. We lack quality for what is a brutal league: He knows, the fans know, the board knows, the opposition knows.

I think that’s the hardest part, pretty much everyone involved with the club knows this team doesn’t stand a chance of survival unless a serious miracle happens.

Very depressing and going to be a truly awful season.

Like a lot of people I don’t think naming and shaming players will do any good. They’re just not good enough for this level of football I’m afraid.

The issue is they did have a great start to last years champ and produced some great football, last Christmas onwards though it was hard to watch in almost every game and Slav has to take some blame as he can’t get them back to the pre Christmas performance levels.

Slav might just think this isn’t for him now. He doesn’t look as energised as last year at all.
