Think owners are taking a gamble spend nothing on transfer fees tie up senior pros on longer contracts which no other team wants, sell our best asset on the cheap and hope that Val gets us up in two seasons.

Stay away from sharp objects for the rest of the day  ;D .

An extension for Johnstone actually makes sense though despite it being a dismal outcome in comparison to a sale.

We'll revisit this when he signs a three or four year deal  ;) .

That'll be the Pereira money spent. £5.67 million on each of Phillips, Bartley and Livermore for wages and signing on fees. What more do you want ;)

Just wait until Sam Johnstone signs his new deal, the fan will be hit with the full contents of a slurry machine on max output  ;D .

........(who here had heard of Al Hilal before all this)......

Me and probably quite a few others. They may not be huge in world football terms but they're very big in regional terms.

And if they can actually afford what they've offered Pereira in pounds sterling they're obviously loaded.

This is Chinese Super League stuff with no governmental spending restrictions.

Am I right in thinking currently Harry Kane is not on £135,000 a week after tax?

I honestly don't have the foggiest notion what Harry Kane's wages are. What I do know is that Al Hilal's reported wage offer to Pereira is truly eye watering stuff.

So, right up there in the top 6 of the best players I've ever seen in am Albion shirt being given away....and Villa pay 30m for Ings.....and M. City are paying 100m for Grealish. Really? Our board are clueless.

The board may or may not be clueless. What is without doubt is that they are stuck between a rock and a hard place. The Saudi wage offer has blown all sensible negotiations clean out of the water.

For anyone with an interest in transfer fee declarations copy and paste 'FIFA TMS' into your internet browser of choice.

Smith has barely won a match without Jack Grealish for 3 seasons. A few panic buys will make no difference to his shambolic record.

Dark horses for the drop.

Oh no, you've only gone and done it again. New centre half and they're knocking on the door for Europe with your Villa/Wolves prediction rate  ;D .

Even if we leave it later in the window, i could see him hanging on, he has made it clear its about money so he isnt going to tie himself to a contract at another premier league club knowing he can earn twice that in saudi.

Its an unusual situation as most players have some professional ambition even when its money related but he has made it clear thats not the case, at least he was honest, but it backs Albion into a corner.

I would tempted to call his bluff, make him wait and see if the saudis will go higher but its a risky game, the longer it drags on we could be missing out on targets we could of got with the money.

The look on his face when it turns out to be Saudi Riyals (or whatever it is) and not pounds though.....

Do Southampton need a playmaker at all? They just sold Ings to Villa. I'm clutching at straws here, we can't seriously accept £17m

Pity, used to quite like Danny Ings. Just a lookalike from Game of Thrones now. Oh well.....

Understatement of the year.

25 years old with 3 years on his contract, we have had our pants down here unless we get double the quoted fee.

Look on the bright side, we'll probably be able to match Sam Johnstone's desired signing on fee, wage increase and loyalty bonus now........

I’m not going Friday but just had a look at the website and it says that I don’t have access to buy one even if I wanted to and I have 1570 points

Phone the ticket office if you can, they'll sort it.

Brighton and Hove Plastic Albion have been charged by the FA for being in breach of regulations regarding agents (prior to Dan Ashworth's appointment).

'Brighton have been charged by the Football Association over "several breaches" of its agent regulations.

The alleged offences are dated between January 2015 and January 2018.

Brighton say they "identified and self-reported to the FA a limited number of historical administrative errors" following an internal review in 2019 and are "openly co-operating" with the governing body.

They have been given until 17 August to respond to the FA charge.

Brighton were fined £90,000 by the FA in 2015 after admitting a breach of regulations involving their purchase of defender Dale Stephens in 2014.

The section under which they have been charged this time relates to concealing or misrepresenting "the reality and/or substance of any matters in relation to a transaction".'

He'd have to practice his shooting Dan, because, as good as he is, that was not his strong point last year, especially in and around the box. Him and Gallacher threatened the pigeons more than the net on many occasions.

So did Diagne and it didn't stop loads on here falling over themselves when it was suggested we may be able to get him back for this season. To be honest I'd stick Matheus in goal if it came to it, couldn't be any worse on crosses and corners than England's number whatever he is  ;D  ;) .

Val to change his system to suit a player who's spent the first six weeks of his tenure sulking and training on his own. Doesn't seem the wisest, or most likely.

I didn't suggest a change of system to suit Pereira. I suggested playing Pereira as the central striker of the three pronged attack should he not be sold. He's not a target man so play it to feet.

If he's on the books and wants to keep other teams interested in his abilities then play him. He loves playing football and he loves scoring. If he's here then use him.

.....Watch the game at Leeds at the back end of last season, the errors have not gone from his game.......

None of the goals were Sam's fault, those nasty Leeds supporters put him off his game  ;) .

Genuinely haven't seen enough of either Button or Palmer to say we have sufficient cover at GK. But I watched some of the goals Sam conceded during the promotion season the other day. Save yourselves the bother people..... trust me, the experience was just as unpleasant as it was at the time.

.....2. The sale of Pereira is what is going to generate the cash to sign the players who Val wants within his system and will contribute. As it stands I don't see where MP gets into this side, we need a target man and a midfielder far more than we need another attacking midfielder.......

If Val's determined to play three up front and Matheus Pereira stays just play him as the central forward with Grant and Diangana either side. Play it to feet from midfield and let the goals commence. We could do far worse.

23
There were quite a few gaping holes between our midfield and the back three in the opening 20 - 30 minutes against Blues too......  :-X .

Don't lower yourself to comparing Pereira to JWP. JWPs performance at the hawthorns was nothing compared to MPs at Stamford Bridge.

Go back to the Pogba and Hazard comparisons. Even De Bruyne couldnt do in the champions league final against Chelsea.

The decline in Matheus Pereira's abilities to bit part player who plays in spurts when he feels like it has been truly dramatic, epic even. Most talented Albion player I've seen for many a year has fallen from jewel in the crown status to he's not all that. This thread is making for highly unusual reading the further it goes.
