West Bromwich Albion FC / Re: Guochuan Lai
« on: June 23, 2021, 01:31:08 PM »
He's done what he said he was going to do in terms of investment and the club still remains under the same model as we did under Jeremy Peace - in that sense there have been no changes.

The difference being is that for a period of time - Peace (often incapable of making the right decision) surrounded himself with people who could make those decisions for him.

Lai has been the total opposite - every big decision this football club has had to make has been the wrong one -

for example (some hindsight is being used):

John Williams, the summer of 2018, sacking Pulis mid-season, appointing Pardew, not sacking Pardew quick enough, appointing Dowling, sacking Moore, appointing Shan, summer of 2020, sacking Bilic, appointing Allardyce

There are probably others I have missed, but those are a lot of fundamental calls to get wrong in nearly 3 years.

E and S, being held up by how to pay compo Barnsley want it upfront Albion want to pay instalments.

Didn't Perce confirm that the compensation issues had been sorted?

I am torn on this, Barnsley were awful to watch and we dont want that version.

Out of interest - how much of Barnsley did you see last season?

Do we really want to progress to another semi final after playing Eastern European and Scandinavian sides who are at least a level below, covering all Southgates shortcomings just like the last WC did?

Not for me France please. Sink or swim. If it's sink so be it, and sack the pizza boy.

I do agree with this to be honest.

If you want to be the best, sometimes you need to go and beat them.

Out of France, Germany and Portgual it is a toss of a coin.

You can't go into a tournament trying to hide from the big-boys and hope somebody does the job that you're afraid to do.

Really not that scared of facing Spain - I think they've looked very ordinary and are living off reputation rather than their ability. Some good players in their ranks but nothing that makes me think they will be a force in the latter stages

Aside from flashes from Saka and a superb 60 mins from Grealish this has been awful again.

Agree with this - there was nothing of note that happened during that second half. Just happy to accept what we have.

The others must be quaking in their boots.

For anyone missing the weekly exploits of BCC, our opposition conceded this weekend. Granting us 20 more points but no actual cricket.

Farnworth... useless!  ;D

I find it very difficult to understand how no other Sweaties  are having to isolate

I don't understand this either.

How on earth were Chillwell and Mount so close to Gilmour?

None of this makes any sense.

I don’t understand it either - two England players isolating whereas none of the Scotland team are. Beyond me but there we are.

Speaking of golf, I've started playing it a bit...bloody frustrating game. Does anyone else play it? Managed to fix the slice on my driver but I daresay my swing is horrid.

Mate of mine once said "the more practice you get the worse you are"  ;D

I'm really happy with this.

I was dreading the thought of who we might appoint but we've seemingly appointed a young, ambitious head coach with a good track record.

The football might be direct, but with a high press it will be an entertaining period for the club.

Hopefully we can get some good additions to supplement the existing squad and start to build again.

I’ve been impressed from what I’ve seen from Wales across the last two and half games. Organised, well drilled, defend well and possess genuine quality with Ramsey, Bale and James going forwards. Moore looks a useful addition upfront.

« on: June 20, 2021, 12:41:04 PM »
Think club and coaches are to blame for our academy players with potential not improving. In the case of Harper who had a taste of prem football under Pulis then you would have thought that Big Daves appointment would have been ideal for Rekeem a coach who had dealings with him in youth system but he trusted the senior pros than him. Club should have loaned the boy out if coach had no intention of playing him. Same problem has occurred with Field, Edwards and lad that went to bluenoses development stunted by coaches who arnt sure about their own decisions never mind player's ability

Totally agree - that season under Moore was such a waste for field and Harper when they had to watch two blokes knocking on 40 parading around in our midfield

We should have got them out on loan much quicker rather than stifling them by merely having them around the place.

Harper has quality but he looks more of a street footballer than a pro - doesn’t get involved and has no sense positionally. They should have been ironed out during loan spells

The problem I've got about renewing is all this business about restrictions etc .

Are they going to restrict access to food and drinks, will we have to wear a mask, will there be a limited amount gaining access to the match which would mean if its a 10,000 limit and we have 16,000 season tickets, 6,000 will miss out although they would have paid for the match. Also what happens if they introduce vaccine passports which would make it unfair to the people who have not had or cannot have the vaccine.

They are expecting us to pay out for our ticket without pointing out any of these points.

Come July there should be no restrictions - including no vaccine passports.

We should hopefully return to normal without masks and social distancing etc

I hope...

Incredible counter attack from Portugal. Ronaldo clears from a German corner, sprints down the other end of the pitch to finish the counter attack.

Big pressure on Germany now.

They’ve responded perfectly. 4-1 now

Portugal look really average - favourites to finish 3rd I would say.

Some of these VAR decisions on a knifedge. Hope Taylor doesn't mess up.

Standard of refereeing - including var- has been superb throughout the tournament so far.

That was a mess from start to finish. An absolute mess.

We never looked remotely close to winning that game

Credit to Scotland as they were excellent in parts.

Still every chance he turns us down. If Appleton didn't fancy it, I'm struggling to understand why Ismaël would do given he is at a much better team. Then again i guess we don't know why Appleton allegedly turned us down.

I think Appleton did not fancy it largely because his greatest admirer was about to be shown the door. He would have been a dead man walking without Dowling.

Convenient how both snippets of information both came out on the same day.

Amazing what happens now clueless Dowling has gone.

Not sure why we were shopping in the basement when we were prepared to pay compensation. Suggests they didn’t trust Dowling with monies but would been prepared for him to make a cheap appointment and gamble the future.

Thankfully that episode is now history.

That's the attitude Liam, absolutely pummel em!

I want to see the tartan army crying on the tele.

Anything less than that will not be tolerated.

I hope we absolutely stuff them.

Score early and let it rain goals at Wembley.
