Retained players list
« on: May 17, 2019, 05:08:46 PM »
https://www.expressandstar.com/sport/football/west-bromwich-albion/2019/05/17/chris-brunt-staying-at-west-brom-but-james-morrison-and-gareth-bary-not-offered-contracts/

GONE
Mozza
Barry
Myhill
MEars
Hoolahan

STAYING
Brunt

Brunt did enough via performance related conditions to trigger his extension apparently.  Mail said it was based on appearences. Either way hes here again.

Thank **** the rumour about Mozza having a 12 month deal on his terms wasn't true.

Free transfer usually means there is time left on their (players) contract but the club don't want to use it, they would rather let them go on a free than pay their wages anymore.

WBA dont want em basically.

Morrison, Barry and Myhill could still be here depending on the new coach

https://www.wba.co.uk/news/2019/may/dowling-maps-vision-for-future/

Get the wages off the books, no way should Morrison and Myhill be here next season, neither played any significant part this season. Barry played a part but by Brunt staying we cannot have both so he must go.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see them sign again when we fail to sign any replacements by deadline day. Maybe now Morrison can get his ‘dream move’ back to Middlesbrough 😉

Brilliant, knew that, not even our disfunctional hiercachy would give mozza a 2nd year in his favour.

Just, shows the news we get about stuff like this is just a guess from the local reporters.

Thanks Mozza, and all the best for the future.

All good decisions in my opinion. Myhill was a no brainer. Mears, Hoolahan, and Barry are too old for another tough Championship season. Morrison hasn't had a consistent run of good form for many years. I'm not expecting that the new manager will re-sign any of them.

Pretty sure the retained list is for players who're 16 and over.

Louie Barry's still 15.
It doesn't matter how many resources you have.
If you don't know how to use them, they will never be enough.

Allegedly, along with any of the top 6 without youth transfer bans.

We are lucky Morgan Rogers is an Albion fan.

Quite a big chunk of wages gone from Morrison and Barry leaving, I imagine the combined list with the others is around £100k p/w that we've just slashed - not bad considering Barry was the only one with any real influence this season and even then he was getting very old.

Why would the new manager want to reopen the door to those three?, unless of course the new manager is Appleton. Just saying ;)

still don't understand why we extended Hoolahans contract in January and never played him.
