I just hope he can get a couple of sponsorship deals to top things up, its an insult expecting somebody to survive on £80k a week!

Heart goes out to these footballers. it really does!

One of the journalists said he was being offered £135k a week from Al-hihal.

As far as i know they still dont pay tax in saudi either (i know they never used too)

Athletic said today he's picking up £80k per week after tax, 3 year deal

Al-Hilal might have come in and tapped him up too

Ismael on Furlong: "The wing-back positions in our system are the most intense and exposed position – out of possession and in possession – Darnell has the perfect profile. When I came, I recognised straight away that he is made for the position and made for us." #wba

We will be wearing the new third kit tomorrow apparently.

Makes sense with them lot being Black and Red.

I'm old enough to remember when we wore stripes. I'm actually even old enough to remember when we used to run out to "Stars and [in] Stripes" being played on the tannoy....  :-X

I am not old enough to remember that!  :P

Not bad to be honest didnt Arsenal have an away kit like it?

Yes in the late 80s or early 90s, JVC kit wasn't it?

There was an article the other day they wanted £30m but after his statement they would drop it to £25m to get rid.

With proper recruitment £10m should be more than enough when in the Championship. Granted that's a big IF.

Going on the current regimes past record you have a lot more faith in them than me mate

It does mean we wouldn't have the funds to bring in the striker and midfielder we desperately need.

I dont think the money we are receiving and already committing some of towards our old boys new contracts will do that either. I've no problem with the sale of MP if it enables us to get our top 2 targets but i dont think we have enough coming in.

No we have not. We would have had our pants pulled down if we had stuck out for 25 millions which no one was going to pay and ended up with him going nowhere and rotting in the reserves until going for even less in January

Disagree, tell him to put his big boy pants on, explain he is NOT getting that Al-Hilal unless they pay £25m+ and we will entertain offers from the PL at £25m+. No need to sell him in Jan either.

Got to say thats an awful post from the other forum in my opinion. We've pulled our own pants down and got reamed. In whatever world that is a good thing i don't want a part of.

I see us promoted if we can get a CF who knows where the net is.

Playoffs but not promoted if we can't.

Not surprised he got a new contract, it's Albion after all but 3 years is a joke!

Honestly, if he would agree to stay and we built the team around him I'd consider paying it.  He gives us the best chance of going up as there's nobody close to him in this league.  That's £12m over 3 years - if someone said we could sign a player as good as Pierera for £12m at the moment I'd snap their hand off.

We just don't have that kind of money though plus I think he's burnt his bridges here now
