Surprises me when so many want Rooney to play up front on his own.  I feel hes twice the player when played deep.  Thats the way he plays for Man Utd.  Whenever hes played up front on his own he is indisciplined and always drops deeper to try and get involved leaving us with no attacking threat.

i would pretty much agree with this but we are never going to be playing like barca, and possibly swap johnson for micah richards.

for the holland game would like to see walcott, sturridge and young up top constantly interchanging, dutch defence wont know whos meant to be marking who

True we will never pass it around like Barca but their system suits Rooney best. It would also bring the best out of Walcott and young. With a 3 man compact midfield behind them they would be able to attack more freely especially with Rooney dropping deep.

Without Rooney we would play with a more traditional centre forward like Bent or Wellbeck. Sitting back and hitting on the counter attack would be our best tactic. As we struggle to maintain possesion against the better teams and we struggle to create effective offence when we have the majority of possesion against 'lesser' teams.

As long as Downing and Glen Johnson (vastly over rated) are not in the team i will be happy.
