This is the first death of a former player to really hit me.

Iâ€™ve obviously been around when greats have passed but never seen any of them play.

Alan Miller was the first proper goal keeper I personally remember seeing up the Albion and as kids we all wanted to play in goal during the 2 man Wembley sessions in the street because of this guy. He was my first proper footballing hero (along with Super Bob of course).

He was a bright light in a poor period for us and will always remember the Brummie chanting his name.

I am quite shook and he was no age at all.

R.I.P Alan Miller. He was a top keeper. 51, so young. Was one.of the first footballers I remember. All the best to his family

Possibly the best keeper in division 1 while playing for us - something you couldn't say too often about a player for us back then.

Really shocked to see the news, thoughts with his Family.

Really liked Alan Miller - i remember him having good banter with us away fans at Ashton Gate once, i think we won 3-1. Funny as last week I saw a Subbuteo figurine made of him in that iconic "boing boing" moment!

We have been fortunate with keepers over the years Foster, Hoult, Kuszczak. Miller is up there. You always Felt like he loved the Albion too.

Sat in the seat behind Claire Sweeney a few times when they were going out and was a bit star struck but she was very down to earth. Could tell she thought the world of him.

Sneeks just reminded me of his performance against the bluenoses in our 1 nil win god knows how many saves he made that day but they were many and the only time we got out of our half Rich scores. We only need one chance rang around the ground and the obligatory there's only one Alan Miller and England's no 1. Happy memories big man.

Very sad to hear this of Alan Miller and only 51!
Remember him well joining in with us fans behind the Brummie Road. In fact he was often the conductor.
He kept the fans boinging during those days of struggle.
In fact he acted like he was one of the fans; and also to mention he was a decent keeper too (many a time single handedly keeping the opposition out).

I remember that Blues game well. He was absolutely outstanding that day.

Miller would be behind Foster and Hoult but as good as any other keeper I've seen at the Albion.

Loved that game, maybe not during the 90 minutes but it felt great coming out the ground afterwards. Dreadfully sad this is. As many have said a wonderful bright spot in a poor era for us. How Dennis Smith could put Phil whitehead ahead of him I have no idea. Serious question, I started going down in 92-93, I never knew he had 3 games for us in 91. Who were they against and was he a hit then? I always remember that match against blues, probably the best all round displays Iâ€™ve ever seen from a keeper.

Great game and one of the rare games I sat in the Halfords Lane for, my first there. Went with my Blue Nose Grandad and Baggies supporting Dad and Uncle and I remember the chant as it stuck with us for a couple years when we saw my grandad! Miller was colossal that day.
