Who has been your fave albion strike partnership?

I think my fave's would have to be either Hunt/Taylor or Hunt/Pesch. They just seemed to click. Hope we sign a decent couple strikers this summer to go up with pete!

Difficult this one! Hunt-Taylor, Hughes-Roberts and, although I don't like Kamara so much, Phillips-Kamara were lethal.

Hughes/Roberts

Be interesting to see what that would have been like in the prem if Hughesy hadn't gone to Coventry and stagnated his career.

In my life time my favourite has to be super kev and big ish at his best, they truly ripped teams apart. Although hughsey and roberts were good too. Im sure there have been many better patnerships through the generations just these are my two personal favourites out of the ones i have lived to see
I hate stoke, i hate newcastle more than i hate stoke, i hate andy carrol more than i hate newcastle, i hate v*lla more than i hate andy carrol but i hate the dingles most of all. Albion till i die

For about a month it was Gary Robson and Goodman, but seriously it was Regis with Ally Brown or Cunningham.

Outside the top flight Hunt and Taylor.

absolutely no doubt...

Ronnie Allen (234 goals in 415 games) and Derek Kevan (173 goals in 291 games)...simply sensational

closely followed by..

Allen and Johnny Nicholls (64 in 145)...

there are some advantages in being a very old baggie.... ;D

I've just read through this thead, thinking Ronnie Allen and Derek Kevan for me - and then I find VoB's beaten me to it. Atle and Bomber also stand out, but for juust another shout, Astle and John Kaye were very strong before Kaye dropped back into midfield.

cyrille regis and ally brown in 1978-79, as this was the high-point for the club for me within living memory and has since become legendary in albion folklore.

more recently, just about any combination of kevin phillips with diomansy kamara, ishmael miller and/or roman bednar. they produced an attacking game that had real charisma.

regis / thompson. everything about them was cool. Especially when they both scored against villa in the last 5 minutes to win the game 3-1 back in the 80's. Greatest scenes of celebration ever. One of those where you are in a totally different part of the stand when it calms down and it takes 5 minutes to find your dad again. magic!

As im only 34, it has to be Taylor/ Hunt from what I have seen personally, the understanding they had has a partnership was very effective! Hughes/ Roberts were 2 individual players who both liked to run with the ball, didnt work so well as a partnership IMO.

Garry Thompson was an awesome centre forward, scared the rubbish out of defenders and could jump about 35 foot in the air from a standing start.
He got 39 goals in 91 games in the top flight with us and we were on the way down as well.

He also had this uncanny knack of being able to hang in the air. Probably had a jet-pack under his jersey.
