I don't think Rooney's overrated, he gets nothing but criticism these days. He was a very good striker but age and his insistence on changing position have done him in.

For the money paid for Pogba you expect a near goal a game kind of player, or at least someone with the potential to be that kind of game changer. Pogba was never that. He's also not a deep lying midfielder and they're wasting him there. It'd be like us playing Chadli in Fletcher's role, waste of his talents. Not to say that he isn't overrated though, there's still a number of better players than him in his preferred attacking midfielder position.

For the money Pogba cost you're expecting the best player in the world. He is a million miles away from that.

But Pogba is still adjusting and settling. I believe he will eventually prove what an excellent footballer he is, so too early to say he is over rated
Rooney was once very good indeed but is now starting to go downhill, so also not over rated, just slowly diminishing in stature
There are loads more over rated than these two, one of whom resides at our own club !!

Good thread.  My vote goes for Andy Carroll.  Most expensive footballer for a period of time and then did nothing...

I thought Mark Noble absolutely dominated the center circle on Saturday before being hooked - beautiful five yard return passes that went ******* nowhere.

Luiz for sure, one of the worst players I've seen

Pogba is not showing much either, at 89m he should be able to settle in pretty quickly

Rooney has never been overrated in my book, a fabulous player over the years, don't get the criticism he receives

Another was Sterling, still think he is well overrated but this season he has looked a different player altogether so will give him his due

David Luiz for me, unbelievable the amount of money thats been spent on him.

Ive always found Walcott to be vastly overrated aswell, dont get me wrong hes not BAD, just not as good as hes made out to be.

I dont really see the hype in Nolito either.

Walcott is one of those players who people still talk about like a young prospect, even though he's nearly 30.

Walcott's problem is never knowing what his position is.

he should have left Arsenal and joined a side he was going to be a regular in.

Personally would have nurtured him into a striker

I dont think hes finishing is good enough to be a top 4 striker.

He would have made more of a career for himself if he left and joined a team such as Everton and played week in and week out.

Torres after Liverpoo, and Ballotelli.

You see I think his finishing is his best attribute.

He cant cross so is never a winger but maybe as part of a 3 man strike force he would excel

Wayne Rooney defo, vastly overated. Calling him the white Pele is an insult to the best player the world has ever seen.
Does well in games against Jamaica,Iceland and the like but goes missing against the top countries.
If he had played for the Baggies instead of United i doubt his caps would have reached double figures.
What is the reason to keep selecting him for England when he has been past it for years and will be too old for the World Cup?

Few interesting names in here! Can't agree with Rooney but David Luiz is 100% overrated! Maybe not the most overrated footballer in the world but i personally would put Ross Barkley in a category of someone who is overrated.

Pogba 100% - it's not his fault but boy what a complete farce! Apart from the the odd 50 miller (Torres maybe) .....looking back over ther years with the likes of Figo, Zidane, Ronaldo (both), Bale and to some extent Ozil and Sanchez.....these players have genuine ability to influence games on their own. Could Chadli work his way in based on Saturdays performance?!  :o ;D

Dan Sturride for me. Been totally exposed as the fraud he is, after Liverpool lost Suarez. Has to do his own work and has seriously found lasting more than three games on the bounce a struggle. He's been at several big clubs and seems to stuggle to hold a place down anywhere.

It's got to be Saido Berahino. What's he done in the last 18 months to justify his £20m plus price tag?

Got to be Pogba for me.....he is not even the best player in the Man U team!

I firmly believe that they bought the 'hype' about Pogba - a good player but nothing special....

Agree with Pogba, saw someone on FB post "Can't believe you've actually signed an £89m dabbing Mulumbu". Bit harsh on Youssouf I thought.

Other overrated players, Carrick and Victor Valdes.
