General Football & Sports / Your ideal England starting 11

If everyone was fit and no one was suspended what would your starting 11 be for the Euro's?

Personally I would go with this

                                                   Hart

Richards                 Cahil                                Lescott                     Cole

                                                  Parker

 Lennon                 Gerrard                 Wilshire                         Young

                                            Rooney

General Football & Sports / Di Canio vs Leon Clarke
« on: August 30, 2011, 10:51:38 PM »
SSN saying that at the end of the Swindon game, Di Canio grabbed Clarke round the neck to take him down the tunnel, to which Clarke refused to be 'dragged down', there was then a scuffle in the tunnel, Leon Clarke then walked back out of the tunnel, walked onto the pitch and sat down in the centre circle with his head in his hands 'looking distraught'... The chairman then came out to talk to him but he then stood up after sitting there for 20 mins, and walked off the opposite side of the pitch!?!? Random!

ALBION have lined up a prestigious pre-season clash with Greek champions Olympiacos on Thursday, August 4 (ko 9pm local time).

The Baggies will travel to Piraeus to take on the European giants at the Karaiskakis Stadium ten days before they kick-off their Barclays Premier League campaign against Manchester United.

Olympiacos stormed their way to their 13th Super League title in 15 years last season as they regained the crown from fierce rivals Panathinaikos, who finished 16 points adrift as runners-up.

Albion Sporting and Technical Director Dan Ashworth said: "It's a fantastic opportunity to go and play a very, very good side that won their league by a distance.

"They are a Champions League team that will give us a really good test before facing Manchester United on the opening day of the season.

"And the chance to go and play a team like Olympiacos in Greece is such an attractive proposition, we felt we had to take it."

The Red-Whites remain the most successful club in Greek football, with 38 championships, 24 Greek Cups and four Super Cups to their name.

They have reached the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League in two of the last four seasons, with their best run in the competition seeing them reach the quarter-finals in 1999 before losing to Juventus.

Olympiacos are currently managed by Spaniard Ernesto Valverde, who is in his second spell at the club after a season away at Villarreal.

He guided them to a perfect Super League home record of 14 wins last term and only dropped ten points in their 13 away encounters.

The Athens outfit's success was built on an impressive defence, which had former Villa captain Olof Mellberg and skipper Avraam Papadoulos at the heart of it.

They conceded just 13 goals and at the other end their attack was spearheaded by Belgium 14-goal hitman Kevin Mirallas, with Serbia hotshot Marko Pantelic and Spanish widemen Albert Riera and David Fuster also providing the firepower in a 57-goal top-flight tally.

One player who has played for both clubs is former Albion fans' favourite Enzo Maresca, who spent the 2009/10 campaign at the Karaiskakis Stadium.

The old stadium was demolished in 2003 and made way for a new 33,300-seat venue that was used for the 2004 Olympics' football tournament.

Amazing scenes in Argentina! Riots, water cannons, fire! Madness! First time they've been relegated in their history. Just saw on SSN a woman get hit in the face by a hurled bit of wood or something. All the fans crying like someone has died! Bloody mental lol

What are peoples thoughts? I think it looks brilliant when they're all doing it. I hope to god other teams don't start doing it as well though as this would be ****** shameful!
I saw Celtic fans doing it yesterday and I was just thinking oh for god sakes what a bunch of n0b heads blatantly copying City. Fair enough City have copied Lech but they're are a foreign team and no one else in the UK does it.
THen you get about 20 odd dog heads doing it when they beat us the other week and, again, *rolls eyes & shakes head* I am cringing. So a message to all other UK teams - Lets let Man City have this one because for the love of god how naff is it going to look when we see the f.a. cup 5th round bbc 1 next year and you see the likes of Torqay fans doing it....
