The Footballers Football Show
« on: August 30, 2012, 10:49:15 PM »
Anybody watching.

Finding this really interesting to be honest! Great to hear perspectives that you don't usually hear. Not sure if its the first programme but I hope there are more.

Basically for anyone not watching they have Brian Mcdermott, The Peterborough chairman and an agent discussing various things in football.

Yeah I watched it last week , they had Mad Mick, Appleton, and Peter Reid on it. Much better program than You're On Sky Sports.

Its definitely better than you're on sky sports. Great to hear from people still currently involved rather than ex-players and pundits.

I watched it with Appy last week and have to say I thought it was very interesting. They had some decent conversations going on and kept me thoroughly entertained up until the end. Thumbs up.

Yeah it's a bit hit and miss for me. Last week was decent with Appy in the mix, but the week prior to that was awful.

It's a great watch.

Interesting how The Peterborough Owner and McDermott both emphasise the significance of having a director of football - and the benefits they bring.

I always like hearing about the role of agents,  I think football fans generally are oblivious to what they actually do and how they operate.

I can imagine how interesting it is does depend on the guests, but for me watching for the first time this week its a really interesting bunch. Hope they can keep it up.

Indeed mate.

Bit like goals on sunday for me - great with Mick Mccarthy and Joe Jordan but terribly tedious with Michael 'let's talk about my horses and wealth for the whole show' Owen!

Completely agree. You don't want media friendly answers or bull we all know anyway.

The Peterborough chairman pulling up the agent is the sort of stuff that makes it interesting.

Is there a way to watch them again? I've unfortunately missed the last two episodes and I refused to watch the first one when I saw it included Clarke Carlisle and Niall Quinn.

I think last week they said there was a podcast somewhere...

The beauties of having sky plus, I shall record that then. Providing my sky box doesn't jump onto standby half way through and therefore cut the recording!  :-\

Very impressed with Glenn Hoddle last night. Thought he spoke very well on the state of English football and what's needed to improve the game. Residential education and coaching was his idea which is an interesting proposition. He also mentioned what he did as England boss, reverting from a 442 to a 352 and the reasons why he did it. Also claimed that England winning the world cup in 1966 took England as a nation further back than we thought.

Also on last night was Ray Wilkins and Phillip Beard (QPR chief executive officer) and they discussed the transfer business of QPR and the plans they've put in place for the future.

Very good programme.

I remember when we played Blackpool (the night we had 2 men sent off) and he was co-commentating, by far the most biased i've ever heard a supposed co-commentator! I know he's a Blackpool fan/used to play for them but the level of bias was so unprofessional.

Liam, whats wrong with Niall Quinn and Clarke Carlisle?

I don't mind listening to them but they eventually become too much. Listening to Quinn do commentary on sky sports is unbearable after a bit. He just has one of those voices, likewise with Carlisle, he too is annoying whenever you hear him speak, from that over hyped racism programme to him being on countdown. With Carlisle, everything just seems to be about him. Just two people I generally dislike

Hoddle was, ok I suppose. Can't say I like him as a person but he had a few good things to say.

Wilkins on the other hand, "my word" is he boring. He has some litany of superlatives I tell ya! Awful commentator.
