He doesn't belong at Milan or FC Twente or SCP or Malaga or any other place where defenders are required to be skilful. He belongs in MLS, trying to outjump and outmuscle Steven Lenhart, Alan Gordon, Kenny Cooper, Sebastian Le Toux, etc.

Looks like some of the press jumped the gun and he is still there at the moment

He isn't any good at that anymore either. The demise of Guch the last year has been really sad to watch, either his love for the game is fading or just not happy with us? He fell to 5th choice centre back this season as when he played he was getting destroyed by nearly every teams forward line. The likes of Beira-mar, Setubal and Gil Vicente should not have that much joy against a Sporting defence. He became the media's scapegoat and that took it's toll.

Klinsmann has mostly stopped using him for the national team, and he wasn't selected for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers. If he still wants to play, I suppose some MLS side might take a chance on him, but if he can't outmuscle the big centre forwards, he isn't much use.

I hope the change of scenery does him good. Very nice person, extremely kind and generous to our fans. As I said before I am sad at the direction his career seems to be heading.

I don't know anything about his personality, but he does have a dedicated fan base amongst US national team fans.

My liverpool mate spent 24 hours banging on about drogba coming and hes just come round, agast. Apparently hes refused to even consider talking to them. Where hes got his information from i do not know as i havent seen anything to suggest either.

Gutting for them :D

Just seen Owen signed for Stoke. Anyone know if its pay as you play? If it is not a bad move.

1 year deal from what I've read. Don't think he'll do too much to be honest after 3 injury blighted seasons. I was surprised to read that he'd got 17 in 54 apps for Man Utd ...that's a goal every 3.2 games.....think he'll spend a lot of time at Stoke on the injury list.

He might not be able to  play until January as the Premier League aren't sure yet that Owen was submitted to Stokes 25 man squad by the 4pm deadline.

Why are Man Utd allowed to sign people outside of the window?

If anything, they had pretty much announced Henriquez before the window closed. At the very least, it's certain all the paperwork had been filed. And people think we're slow at announcing things! ;D

Fiorentina sign Borja Valero
« Reply #419 on: September 06, 2012, 08:02:01 AM »
Interesting comments from the Florentina management.
"Borja Valero? He was one of our top targets for the midfield, but we thought it was impossible to take him because the first time Villarreal asked us 12 million. Then in the market things change and two days later we closed the move along with Gonzalo Rodriguez, for a total price of about 8 million plus bonuses."

Im surprised by that as well. Its harsh to say its 3.2 games as well considering I bet in terms of minutes its probably closer than 17 in 17 than it is 17 in 54.

If stoke can get him on the pitch he will pop up with a few.

Could be. Strange player Lita, looks to have all the tools to be a really really good striker but somehow flatters to deceive a bit

Aah Borja. The one that got away.
