Was on the phone with the ticket office yesterday. IF we're allowed to attend tickets will be on sale from the Watford OS. IF....... nothing has  been decided as yet.

Wouldn't have minded popping along to this one. Downloading their app (which I know I can delete) doesn't really appeal for some reason given the ones I've downloaded since Covid.

If this is how away tickets are marketed for the season ahead I can see me only doing home games. I'd end up saving money on the Albion to spend on the wife instead as I'm feeling download fatigue (not to be confused with trips to the toilet).

Can't be having that. Time to weather treat and paint the outside of the house perhaps. Or buy some beers and listen to away games on the radio. Decisions decisions......

Just ahead of the Watford game, Foster confirming his team will always be West Brom. You love to hear it.  ;)

strange that he couldn't wait to get away once we'd been relegated.

He left for non football reasons in the main, extract from a Birmingham Mail article when he left:

He said: “Originally I had no intention of leaving. I had been there seven years, it was home and that was as simple as that. I’d never pushed for a move and then I got a call from my agent saying Watford were really, really interested and what did I think?

“I went away for a few days to think about it. It wasn’t only Watford but a lot of things were changing at West Brom and behind the scenes.

“Stuff I don’t really want to touch on, to be honest, an awful lot of stuff going on [such as job losses] that was not in the grain of what West Brom were.

I have no idea, as I say it seems strange to make out that we are his team when he left so quickly after relegation.
Surely if we were that important to him he would have stayed and tried to help us get promotion?

Think it was reported, or at least commented upon over social media, that the DoF of the time made him feel distinctly unwelcome and laid a lot of the blame for relegation at Ben Foster's door. Can never remember the bloke's name but Dolmio rings a bell as do Del Monte and Grand Torino  ;D .

That's my point. Unless he's being paid to make the comment, I can't see what he'd gain from saying it, if it was not genuine.

Pleased we're playing a PL team in our pre-season. Good for VI to get a perspective on how they perform against better opposition.

Agreed although I see it as playing a promotion standard Championship team (unless their squad has changed much since the end of last season) which will give us some indication as to the level we’ll need to be at.

I don’t understand some of the lingering negativity to Foster. He did say he wasn’t going to leave, and I can understand why that annoyed people at the time, but he’s only human and sometimes people say things they shouldn’t.

He’s said enough since  and comes across genuinely enough for me to believe him when he says things were going on behind the scenes. In fact I get the impression when he says he doesn’t want to get in to it too much that he doesn’t want to drag the club through any mud.

He seems to have more of a lasting affinity to West Brom than most ex players do and seems like that brief clip is perhaps talking about following West Brom away in future.

I hope if possible he gets a great reception today.

Has Philips been playing as the central striker? I read a story that suggested he had been?

He did nothing wrong. He was also the best goalkeeper I’ve seen in the past 50 years at the Albion. We were lucky to have him.
