End to end but little quality.
Needs a bit of quality where someone plays the killer pass or just holds the ball for a few seconds.

This.

Mowatt looks useful. (First pre season action I've seen).

Not looking in any danger but not threatening either.

Mowatt looks good as long as the ball falls to his left foot!

Ive not noticed us going long ball as much as its been  suggested IS did at Barnsley. If this game is a true relection we are going to mix it and we’ll see plenty of passing through the middle. Although we haven’t done it well we have started getting on top the past few minutes.

We do need to be good on the ball. The pressing we are doing is all well and good if we have more of the ball, but if the opposition have more of it and you are constantly chasing them around the intensity will be impossible to maintain.

Floating a lot of balls in to a non-existant big man. Diagne would prosper in this team and division or a similar player.

Not a bad 45 minutes. A couple of quality additions needed but encouraging. Target man needed to hold up the ball in the box.

Does feel a bit rushed but i guess thats the intensity of the way we are going to play. Fast paced, direct and try to catch them sleeping

The only real thing that’s changed is we press with more urgency. The quality on the ball is as poor as it’s been for the past 2 years.

The press is fantastic to see but means nothing when you don’t know what to do with it once you’ve turned the ball over.

Blues are a bang average mid table (ish) side and they more than matched us early doors and we have no idea currently how to create against them.

Hopefully a better 2nd half.

Have to agree with this one. Would prefer a target man and Grant and Robinson battling it out for the left forward spot. Quality in Livermore's place would be good too. Then we need a few better options within the squad.

Surprised to see Ajayi not starting but can't say i'm disappointed. I just thought his pace may see him in.

Lots of hard work off the ball, all of the players have bought into the press, but once we get it we don't know what do do with it. Diangana in particular seems to have bought into Ismael and is central to our attacking play but he seems to have forgotten  how to put a dangerous ball in.

Another surprise is how poor we are at attacking a header, I've counted 3 good chances wasted with awful headers.

We lack a central striker, Robinson and Grant who are interchanging have no presence in the central role. We also lack dynamism in the middle. Livermore and Mowatt are working hard but while Mowatt seems to have a limited attacking presence, Livermore has none.

Hard to see how we score many goals with the current personnel in this system. Fairly frustrating watch, but atleast it isn't long ball I guess.

Can't see Ajayi not starting, the others are solid but slooowwww. Resting him for start of season i'd imagine.

A few tweaks perhaps solves this - new central midfielder with Pereira/Johnstone money (or Pereira himself, we can dream!). A proper centre, forward possibly the chap Barnsley had - Dyke? And i think a better option at RWB and a few options off the bench.

It will be interesting to see if we can keep this up for another 30 minutes as there’s not much on the bench.

Get in, really enjoying what im seeing here. Would love us to keep a clean sheet. We've looked composed and we have to be taking this forward into next fridays game, which will be very tough i've no doubt.
