It's a farce if it's all about drugs though isnt it?

I used to love track and field but let's be brutally honest you cant trust it so I pay no attention to it now.

The hockey, gymnastics and swimming are great though. The golf just bores me

Football, tennis should not be in Olympics IMO.

True, but if they all do it?

I personally would still have some interest in how fast can a chemist make man, although it would be better if they were honest.

I get their reasons, it was deadlocked and they probably didn't fancy their chances of making the next height.

Not for me. I think it’s ridiculous. The olympics / sport is about completion, finding out who the best is. You have to have winners and losers. If they want to accept ending the competition early give them both silver and dont award a gold.

The process apparently is one more attempt each at that height, then start lowering the bar for sudden death. They should have done that.

Sharing a gold is a step too far.

Has that ever happened before?

Max Whitlock too, what a Gold.

100m semi's were amazing. Zharnel Hughes knocked the favourite out in the semis, winning his heat, then in the final semi a Chinese sprinter set the fastest time of the games and goes into the final as the favourite. Makes me slightly nervous as he has come from nowhere and we have had 18 months of limited testing, but amazing on face value. Could be the first sprinter since 1980 to win the Olympic title who wasn't African American or from a carribean origin.

Fingers crossed for Hughes though, would be amazing if he could nail his start.

I share your doubts on Su Bingtian. He’s also 31 which is typically post peak for sprinters I believe.

Injured shoulder according to the lad on Twitter who posted a pic of him in the crowd

Exceptional from Zohore then, winning the ball on the half way line, running to the byline before a perfect pull back for Tulloch to score the 4th

I had to do a double take. Zohore not just running but holding someone off.

A real remember ‘where you were when’ moment

3-0 Grant (Pen)

2-0 Clarke

1-0 Diangana

Ive not noticed us going long ball as much as its been  suggested IS did at Barnsley. If this game is a true relection we are going to mix it and we’ll see plenty of passing through the middle. Although we haven’t done it well we have started getting on top the past few minutes.

We do need to be good on the ball. The pressing we are doing is all well and good if we have more of the ball, but if the opposition have more of it and you are constantly chasing them around the intensity will be impossible to maintain.

Off the ball it’s Klopps Liverpool esq. Someone goes to close down the player on the ball no matter where they are on the pitch. A second player to help doesn’t seem far behind.  This will allow space and leave us exposed at times for decent passing teams although hopefully there won’t be too many of those in the championship.

On the ball, well the less said the better, it’s been rubbish.

D. No one meets our valuation (circa £35 million) he gets his head down and gets us promoted, as there has been no sign of any dissent aside from selection issues throughout his career.

I agree with that, £35m would probably be my price too.

I think in a combination of desperation and Pereira’s desire to go we will do it for less though.

I've had the spinning wheel for 10 minutes when trying to create an account

Same. Any movement?

Rumours also going around that Fulham are close to completing the signing of Brazil striker Rodrigo Muniz from Flamengo. Neil Warnock appears to have confirmed that his Boro side have missed out to Fulham.

Hard to know the details at the moment, some suggestions are £8m quid but I find that unlikely as Boro wouldn't have been in for him with those numbers.

Little information available, a few translated twitter posts from Brazil suggests he was third choice behind Barbosa (Gabigol) and somebody I've not heard of. He was however showing promise in the games he played and is only 20.

Boro have been rumoured for a while to be close to another South American, Martin Payero for £6m who was Part of the Argentina Olympic Squad.  Very little about him online but he’s young and a few clips have people excited.

Rumoured fee of £6m so Boro have found some money from somewhere! Maybe Gibson sees this as a year to try and take advantage. They could be one of the first clubs to be trying to take advantage of better permit rules for South American’s too.

Oh to be a fly on the wall when they repeat their thoughts about Bristol City to Nigel Pearson......  ;D .

Haha didn’t they basically say he’s done nothing for 7 years?  He’d probably call them Ostrich’s

I’ve just listened to the ‘Not the top 20’ podcast season preview.

General feeling is the division is week this year and the relegates sides have as big an advantage as ever.

They have Fulham winning the league, who incidentally have 19 players who have won promotion to the prem before, 10 of those have done it twice. That’s crazy know how and championship experience.

They have us second, Sheffield United third, Bournemouth 4th, Boro 5th and QPR 6th.

They think Boro, QPR, Luton, Birmingham, Peterborough, Hull, Blackpool will have good seasons (relatively) and Derby, Reading, Huddersfield Swansea and Bristol City will have shockers.

Lol.  No one did what Pereira did last season at Chelsea. When has the £95m Pogba ever been consistent?

Undervaluing player achievements does WBA no favours whatsoever.

You can think of him as a lower Premier League player, I think otherwise.  Buendia has gone for £33m.

If only matches against Chelsea were the only yardstick. We’d get £150 for Callum Robinson.

Would it be possible to raise the cash from a share issue?

I think a share issue would be something typically associated with a publicly floated company, which we aren’t.

Although I would imagine Lai could legally come up with a deal where he gave away part of his ownership on the basis an investor put cash in with an agreement this could be used to clear the debt. The question would be what’s the point for anyone new to own 5% of the club?

Taking a decision that should shock nobody, the club have refused to launch a full scale investigation in to the 3.8m loan.

However, it has been said the the club will announce some dividends will be paid and that these dividends will be used by the holding company to pay the loan back.

This suggests despite relegation and COVID, we made a profit for the FY ending 31/7/21, although it could be next April before any accounts are published going by previous publications.

I've seen a couple of pieces on Mbappe today.

I didn't realise he was out of contract next year. He has reportly told PSG he will not renew his contract and will leave on a free next year (this isnt new).

Could he be the first player to get a £1m per week salary? I think that looks very likely!

Cost of signing Grealish - £100m transfer fee, £200,000k per week on a 4 year deal  - £141,000,000.
Cost of signing Mbappe on a free, £1m per week on a 4 year deal - £208,000,000.

If Man City want to pay near £100m for Grealish can they really turn it down. Once you are talking that sort of money a player can demand somewhere over £200k per week, maybe up to £300k. Can Villa really have one player earning that sort of money to keep him? It’ll cause more problems than it’s worth doing.

What’s the rule on the number of loan players that any one side can include in their squad/team?

I believe it’s 5 in a match day squad.

Not sure he will make the man city first team, when you look at their MF options
DeBruyne / Foden / Zinchenko / Gundogen / Bernardo Silva / Fernandinhio / Rodri

absolutely staggering depth / quality

Time is catching up with Fernandinho, Runours Silva wants out, even Gundogen and De Bruyne are now into their 30’s. I think Grealish would get plenty of game time.
