West Bromwich Albion FC / Not just Irvine-get rid of Downing and Kiely
« on: December 28, 2014, 07:07:58 PM »
Downing and Kiely have to go! Theve become part of the furniture. Irvine is only part of the problem!

This bugs me a lot but am I expecting to much?

Up until December last season we were awesome and playing some of the best football ive seen in my time [that Chelsea home game wow]

We had a little wobble in December but we still picked up a few wins [didn't we beat Norwich and qpr?] Going into January we were 4th and in the mix with the big boys.

Now should we have brought 2-3 quality players and pushed on to try and stay in the top 5? The squad we had was crying help for a little boost and help.

Would we of been in a totally different position now if we would of showed ambition last January when we had a chance of doing something special?

Or was I expecting to much of albion? its something that sticks out to me still now

West Bromwich Albion FC / Sockgate!
« on: February 28, 2014, 10:55:22 AM »
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2570044/Astonishing-feet-West-Brom-run-SOCKS-struggle-survival.html

West Brom boss Pepe Mel has yet another problem to add to his list of managerial woes. His ailing side, locked in a relegation dog-fight, have astonishingly run out of socks.

In the run up to an intense battle for Premier League survival, the club's stars were forced to turn out against Fulham on Saturday in blue stockings, instead of the traditional hoops.

The fashion faux pas may prove toe much for Mel, already under threat after just six games in the Hawthorns hot-seat.

Down-at-heel fans have seen red over the colour choice. Supporters were already unhappy that this season's strip includes blue shorts - shunned since 1991, a disastrous campaign that saw Albion beaten by non-league Woking in the FA Cup and relegated to the old third division.

After the 1-1 draw with fellow strugglers Fulham, 'Wobbs 68' posted on forum westbrom.com: 'I personally dislike blue shorts at home (associate them with bad times) but now to have solid blue socks... the omens were there. Boing. Hopefully back to white shorts and socks next season.'

And 'Atomic' moaned: 'White shorts, white socks - that is Albion.'

The die-hards better get used to the colour scheme. A Baggies whistleblower broke the news that blue is now the colour for the remaining 11 games of the season.

Sportsmail understands that management at the Hawthorns were warned that the first team stock of socks was running low, but a request for new pairs was lodged with Adidas too late. 'It will be blue socks for the rest of the season,' he admitted.

The hoops headache isn't restricted to the pitch. A club shop spokesman said: 'I don't know why they wore navy on Saturday, but we haven't any in stock, which might explain things.'

Kit wise, it's been a bad year for the Baggies. Shirt sponsors Zoopla announced they were cutting ties with the club after striker Nicolas Anelka's infamous 'quenelle' gesture. The 34-year-old made the sign - seen by some as anti-Semitic - after scoring against West Ham.

The weekend's washday problem is, fans fear, yet another toe-nail in the coffin. One thing that can't be questioned, however, is the team's commitment.

The lads have worked their socks off... quite literally.

We are turning into a joke club and it reminds me too much of the dingle demise!

View the video on that page, not for the faint hearted. Such a shame for the greatest fighter ever to go out like that. The leg break looks nasty

How good is ronda rousey aswell, she is hot as hell and is one hell of a fighter!

West Bromwich Albion FC / Whats our weak point now?
« on: September 30, 2013, 07:09:07 PM »
I think we have all been over the moon since transfer deadline day but i was thinking today whats our weakest point now? Im sure this question was easy to answer after the swansea game. Im more then happy with our squad but what are the weakest points?

Id go with the full backs. Popov i dont really rate and reid isnt reliable enough.i like jones and ridgewell.im more then happy with them as our fullbacks but id still class them as our weakest point

Myhill as a back up keeper maybe as a weak point but again thats clutching at straws and  im happy as myhill as a number two.

The question is very hard to answer which shows the strength of the squad. Maybe there isnt a weak point???

What is it with the doom and gloom with some Albion fans?we've got the best team we've had for generations , were having the best season for generations yet its all doom and gloom.

I'm fed up with all the moaning especially at the home games.

Do people not remember the 1990's? That was doom and gloom not this and the funny thing is there is more moaning now then there was back then.when we were rubbish.

Whether you like it or not we are turning into the fans that we have always turned our noses up to and taken the mickey out of.(eg fickle villa fans)

West Bromwich Albion FC / Next seasons starting 11 :-)
« on: January 30, 2013, 10:26:04 PM »
Can't believe I'm already looking at next seasons team, the last two months has showed a lot of problems my starting 11 would be

Foster

Ridgewell/Popov
Olsson
New centre half
New right back

Mulumbu
Yacob

Morrison
New left sided midfielder
New right sided midfielder

Long/ Lukaku ( get him on loan again)

4 quality signings are needed plus good squad players

With a great 1st half of the season gone what do you think will happen in the 2nd half?

I must be honest when Clarke took over I'd have taken 17th place there and then. But he has done really well for us.

Man utd and man city are well away now , Chelsea will get 3rd spot and arsenal and spurs will take up 4th and 5th.

6th is manageable for us but it would take a great 2nd half of the season with Everton doing well, so are stoke/Swansea and i think Liverpool will be much better in the 2nd half of the season.

I've got us to finish 8th or maybe 7th, hopefully we can carry on our good form beat the villa , beat a couple of the big boys and get a good fa cup run in there somewhere.

West Bromwich Albion FC / FA CUP V PREMIER LEAGUE
« on: January 03, 2012, 06:54:01 PM »
With the fa cup coming the weekend which i believe is the best weekend of the season i thought id ask the question what would you rather us do stay up or win the cup?

The club itself will always say that the premier league is more important , with the money on offer the cup dosent seem important when premier league survival is at stake

But for me as a fan id take the FA CUP every day of the week. If i had the option id take relegation as long as we won the cup. Whats the worst that can happen we sell a few players rebuild and get back up some day. But to win the cup would be something to remember!

Everyone i speak to seems to agree but with a low crowd expected at the weekend do most fans disagree? is the league more important?
