Plenty of bars around Copenhagen where you can get pints from as low as 3-3.5 pounds a pint, the closer you get to the center the higher, The Dubliner for example (big irish pub) on the main street, pints will be from 5 to 6 pounds a pint.
In Malmø itself its even worse in general, as drinking is just more expensive, though everything else is probably abit cheaper in Malmø. I know some guys staying in the area of Frederiksberg (decent area of town) there are a couple of nice bars/pubs there where it wont be to pricy. http://www.lunden28.dk/
You can buy a card where you get 10 bottled regular beers for 180 danish kroner, which would be around 19 pounds.
Center of city have several irish english pubs all quite entertaining but pricy.http://www.the-globe.dk/http://www.thedubliner.dk/
So if you go for very good beer but not to watch football why not go to some of the really really good beer bars in copenhagen.
Charlies bar, Beer bar in elmegade, Lord Nelson bar in hyskenstræde.
