I just don't get it. I really don't.

I've seen more than I care for of Grealish the last few years, and he has never shone. The only time I notice him is when he's winning free kicks - and he does win them, he's an expert at it. He always puts himself in position to get fouled. He even managed to trip over a Bournemouth player and get the Bournemouth player sent off for it!

But if he's that good, why does he get shunted around the team? It's like Smith is under pressure to play him, but has to crowbar him in because he isn't good enough to make one position his own. You can quote stats about goals and assists, but most of them don't show any great quality.

He's an overpaid, average player. I wish Southgate had stuck to his guns, instead of caving and picking him.

I'd say he's Villa's version of Zaha at Palace. Not quite good enough for a top 4 side but on his day is excellent. In general though, a really good Premier League player to have. Last season he carried them at times. Their tactics/players were awful and often relied on him picking up the ball and doing something with it. When he did, they'd do well. However, if he was quiet they'd often lose.

I imagine Man Utd were holding out for Sancho and the other top 4/6 have cheaper options (he's always been over-priced, like Zaha). So he's not good many options and probably gets a nice raise out of it.

Just scored the winner in the 87th minute most likely.

He's a superb player, drags them over the line time and time again. Scrote but can't deny his ability.

And then there's Grealish's fat new contract to be creatively accounted for.
It doesn't matter how many resources you have.
If you don't know how to use them, they will never be enough.

Think they will bring in Traore and Rachica in the next couple of days too. By the close of the window they will have spent £300m since promotion. Utterly ridiculous.

Words cannot describe how much I hate that club. They should have been facing points deduction and administration after Dr. Tony emptied the coffers...instead they are taken over by two of the richest men in the world and the cash continues to roll.

Why ridiculous?
There wouldn't be many moans on here if the boot was on the other foot I'm sure.
We can only watch with envy regardless of how they spend their money.

Because of the financial mismanagement of the club meaning they should never be in this position.

Of course I am envious, who wouldn't be, but sadly they are a club that no matter how much sh*t they roll through, they always come out smelling of roses.

We won't be sold on the cheap though sadly. Someone who buys us and wants us to eventually get to Europa level needs to spend £15m to get the West stand upto scratch and 100m on players to REALLY push on. The stand could wait obviously.

Villa and Wolves were bought relatively cheap so less initial risk.

I can't help but think of the West Ham / Sheff utd debacle and now the Vile / hawkeye thing leading me to believe that the Premier league is basically a cartel which "allows" some new blood in to rotate in and out in order to "freshen up" the product.
Its feels almost scripted with the upstarts Leicester, the resurgent sleeping giants Liverpool, the nearly club spurs....

Just becoming more and more depressing seeing all these players I mentioned that we should be recruiting, being snapped up by Villa. Watkins, Traore, Raschica, and had we needed a right back, Matty Cash.  And now they are being strongly linked with Rico Henry. Unlike their £100m + splurge last season, they are getting themselves some real talent this time.  >:(

The biggest problem they have is Dean Smith! can’t see Grealish saving his skin this time!!

I think they'll be ok this season. Last year they had a keeper crisis and Nyland dropped about 5 points from the games I saw, possibly more. Even Pepe Reina was an improvement but he still made the odd mistake.

They now have Martinez from Arsenal who is a really solid keeper. Last season they didn't have a proper striker either with Wesley injured, now they have Watkins. With that said I just can't see them struggling this year, sadly.

If that is the case, I have a suspicion that he will turn up again at Bournemouth soon after. Well, he did that last time he managed a team in claret and blue  :)

Splashing the cash again this year. Seems to be better buys/fit better.

Let’s hope it all goes hideously wrong though
