My alternative 11 would however be -

                           The Monk

Rayden   Victor Meldrew    Hulk Hogan (c)   Spiderman

Sonic       Vinnie J           Father Jack        Road Runner

                 Usain Bolt       Fat Ronaldo

That ought to sort them out once and for all the big red and white twonks

 REID SCHARNER PABLO OLSSON

That might be the best back 4 for this game ,, left back would obviously be restricted going forward , but I believe we have enough quality ball playing winners

Myhill

Reid Pablo Olsson Shorey

Morrison Dorrans Mulumbu Brunt

Odemwingie Vela

Bench - Carson, Tamas, Jara, Scharner , Thomas, Barnes/Tchoyi, Fortune

no point playing a big man up front, huth and shawcross will love that, best to use two quick and clever players who can stretch them

Due to their height, would not be shocked to see

MYHILL

REID PABLO SCHARNER OLSSON

MOZZA DOZZA MULUMZZA BRUZZA

ODEMWINGIE VELA

It would mean that our left back would clearly be less attacking, but would mean it would cut out that diaganol ball they would play to either carew or jones to header across goal

and we have 5 players in that attack that can be match winners and can play stoke off the park

Scharner is awful in midfield, he is 10 times better at the back than in midfield

Its all about opinions of course but I struggle to believe anyone thinks Scharner is an asset at the back. The bloke couldn't mark a statue. At least in midfield he gives us a physical presence. His position is alongside Mulumbu where he was playing earlier in the season.

Did he play centre back against newcastle ? i remember him dominating carroll ..

Stoke are going to try and put in the diagonal ball, for carew / jones, so height would be greatly beneficial

I would be ecstatic with a point here.Probably the worst type of game with the defence we have.Come on Roy work them hard this week.
Keep Morrison away from this game, he is far too lightweight. We need to play as many hardmen as possible

Would be well happy with a point here! Need to get that defence tight and start Pablo for tamas. Scharner looked good in CM Sunday.

Let's look at the hoodoos that face us:

Monday Night
On Sky
Against Stoke
Oliver as ref
Against Stoke

Put me down for a West Brom win :)

Oliver is a poor poor ref. I try not to bash ref's too much but he is awful.

Thanks for the update AidantheBaggies, keep it up.

If Roy's done his home work he won't play long high balls up to a lone front man!

we need to watch him carefully monday night, seems to be finding the net now.
i can feel him scoring a couple against us to be fair, and final score being 2-2.

We need to pop a defender on him. He's a big lad, and we haven't been great with defending set pieces. Put Jonas on him.

agree with that, jonas needs to man mark him constantly. probally their biggest ariel threat.
long throw ins too will undo us imo, especially with him and jones in the box.

I agree, we should put Fortune at left back.

In all seriousness though, Reid, Olsson, Scharner & Shorey at the back imo.
