Sorry, that is crazy talk. Their goal came from a sloppy and thankfully rare error from Kipre, nothing to do with the subs and one of those changes was dictated by Townsend going off injured. Freshening up the forward line with Wiemann & Swift was exactly the right changes to make. As was subbing Okay as he kept giving the ball away in dangerous areas. Bartley then expertly marshalled the team home as we sat in.

Bartley should have come on for Townsend as Reach looked like a rabbit in front of headlights granted he rectified his mistake later but that could have cost us as Cov were on the front foot.

I thought Reach did excellently on and off the ball. Both at left back and then further up the pitch. I do not understand the negativity. Coventry are a very good side, great win. Real team effort and lot of smart tactical decisions. Mark Robins is no fool and this wasn’t akin to rolling over Plymouth.

I have no issue whatsoever with the recruitment over the past two seasons, quite the opposite, we have consistently acted smartly and got a lot of great business done, in terrible circumstances.

Reach didn’t look comfortable at left back gave away a silly free kick, misplaced a pass inside which led to counter attack and that’s just of the top of my head. All needless when he had Bartley on bench complacency had set in and was only restored when the common sense substitution was made. On the win thought the two wingers were outstanding with two well taken goals and made a quality opposition look average in first half, we look like a cracking outfit when our passing is on song.

I seriously think with Reach that so many have a fixed negative view of him that they fear the worst before he steps onto the pitch and can’t shake that, understandable to a degree. Yes he gave away a free-kick, not the only one, so did Swift and many others. But he also stood up tall to their very tricky quick winger, kept his positional shape and was useful on the ball. It’s true he looked uncertain first few minutes but I think that was the pace of the game that he worked up to. The only player I thought struggled last night was Okay by giving it away in silly areas. Everyone played their part in a big win.

The last time we had some money to spend we had very limited appeal as a one season PL club budgeting for relegation, which I think half explains that. Even then by any reasonable standard our budget was tin pot. Even Burnley this season have had far more of a go and they have wasted (sorry to say this) £7m on O’Shea who is far too slow to ever make it at that level & £15m to £19m on a child keeper without any presence, Trafford. They have spent over £90m this season - far worse transfer window than we ever managed, similar problems, decent premier league players prefer to go elsewhere. Whereas Luton limited to a few free transfers have done far better. Kind of suggests we are better off not spending for the sake of it if we go up and keeping the cash. Anyway apologises to mods for being off topic…

Maybe the difference is because Burnley use slightly older fashioned recruitment whereas Luton - given their owner - is more into a broader range of data points about a footballer (soccer player  )

For all Reach did he could have played Pieters at LB or Pipa. I don't think Pipa was great but better than Reach

It was just frustrating as we know he will get Pieters, Reach and Chalobah on no.matter what which weakens us and causes his subs to be cack

It is hard to be critical as he is doing a good job but he made the same mistake which nearly cost us against Coventry. He is going defensive way too early in the match. If you are in front with 5 minutes to go yes it makes sense to try to see it out. But 30 or 40 minutes is way too long to last out because you need so much luck when it’s constant pressure and there’s no out ball to get any attacks going.

We have been short upfront all season and the last few games do not have one  recognised striker so tactically the last manager hands are very much tied, considering this problem it's amazing the position we are in.

I think both were about the same to be honest, i just prefer Reach defensively to Pipa. I think Pipa should have stopped the Willock cross for the second goal, let him come inside way too easily. If we ever played a 5 i'd be more inclined to give him a go but i think yesterday showed that we are heavily reliant on Townsend who i hope isn't out for too long.
