Cardiff fans really rate him and he is more of a defensive full back (possibly better in that regard than the 4 we have). He is an option and if he helps solidify the defence in the next 4 months then he is a good aquisition.

Wow what a signing . Really shows our intent

What are you expecting?

He’s a short term deal until the end of the season.

He adds some much needed solidity to a back line which has been bullied in recent weeks

Good solid signing. Remember the days when we had no proper fullbacks at all and now there are people meaning about acquiring some backup in a role that is very important to how the team plays. Short memories.

They seem genuinely gutted on their forum, good solid defender who’s not afraid to mix it.

Good solid signing for 6 months.

Also give us the ability to move furlong to CB where he has previously played.

Wouldn’t be so sure about that.  Furlong and Ferguson have generally had favourable reports (about performances at least) yet we have been a shambles at the back.

So either both have been incredibly poorly judged, or LP will still be in the same poor unit.

It signals to me that we think he has the ability to help shore up our defence in the Championship and hopefully enough to help us get promoted. However, should we be successful we don't believe he is right for us next season. I think that's very shrewd.

I find it hard to believe that Lee Peltier, at age 33 has joined us after making 25 appearance for Cardiff City this season, to not even been on the bench.

And I find it harder to believe that we have invested money in a player that we don’t intend to utilise on match days.

So, it begs the question, what’s the plan for him?

To add to the squad deptrh i imagine. It looked like Ferguson was off but that changed and O'Shea also emeged as a dependable RB but it's not hurting to have him here.

The club would've took absolute peltiers if they didn't get a back up plan in to cover Ferguson.

He will be in the match day squads soon I think. Might not make the starting 11 but good as back up.

He's a solid professional well versed in this division. To be honest, given that Nathan Ferguson was pretty much on the way out and looks as though he probably won't play for us again, I'm surprised Peltier's signing is up for apparent debate. The plan is to play a proven professional with promotion on his CV to help get us over the line if/when required.

I would very much like to see him in the match day squad because of all his experience and player attributes.

Others will argue differently, but I think he was probably one of the most astute signings in January.

We signed him just to provide cover as it seems that Ferguson won't play for us again.
Also his experience could benefit our young players(e.g O'Shea).

As said experience is good and some players are just great in dressing room. Maybe hes worth 10k a week to ensure he kicks people up bum, motivates, gels squad and helps us get up?

Cardiff manager Neil Harris was asked at his club's press conference this morning about the departure of Lee Peltier:

Harris: Firstly, great servant to the club, great to work with on the training pitch, a lot of time for Lee.
You just get to a stage with senior players when you put a lot of things into the mix. But, ultimately, we got to a situation on deadline day where Lee got an opportunity to move to West Brom, an hour away from his family home with his children, and to go to a team that’s top of the league and will likely go to play in the Premier League.
And Lee had an opportunity, contractually, to go and play in the Premier League next year.
As much as if we wanted to keep him and if he was thinking about playing at Cardiff, an hour from home, chance of Premier League football? That’s a big draw.
But Lee goes with our regards and best wishes for the future.
Was there a dispute over a contract?
At the end of the day, players with four months left ultimately decide what they want to do.
There’s a lot of thought process that goes in here, trying to have a younger group with energy and balancing that off with good lads.
Lee falls into so many categories but we got to a stage where decisions were being made on contracts, but Lee got an opportunity to go to West Brom and it was a great opportunity for him.
