I think he can do a Craig Dawson-esque job at right back in the premier league, though it will be difficult - premier league wide players are usually far faster and trickier than the ones he'll have been up against in the championship. I wouldn't mind partnering him with Ajayi at the start of the season at centre back, where he presumably has the most potential.

Next season could be a one pivotal for him. I really hope he isn't sitting on the bench or worse for most of the season. If we recruit well I'd loan him out otherwise we need him involved on a more regular basis. I love his attitude and I think he has the ability to play in this division if we show faith in him, it certainly seems like Slav trusts him. Although I'm sure he would consider himself a centre back first and foremost I think playing full back will have helped developed other aspects of his game which could prove invaluable. Personally I do think we should consider moving him back to centre back and signing a more defensive minded full back if that's what Bilic wants. I see no reason why Ajayi and O'Shea couldn't work, perhaps a lack of experience but this lad seems to have an old head on young shoulders, age isn't everything.

I think he will be a regular next season, most likely at right back. For me he is better than Dawson. He is more mobile for starters.

I’d honestly consider him as our starting RB from now on. Furlong as backup.

If we can only upgrade 5 positions I wouldn’t be making this a priority

Good lad, has earned his call up for sure.

Hopefully he uses the experience to kick on further and not get complacent.

I posted earlier on in the thread that he deserved an ROI call up.  Well done Dara!

I love Dara and his loyalty compared to the rats like Ferguson and Barry and congratulate him on his call up but I feel his lack of pace is going to be a problem in the prem.

Yes, his only real weakness will be exposed more in the PL. Hopefully his positioning is spot on to minimize the risk. Wouldn't be surprised to see Furlong in against the real quick wingers.

Great news, really deserves the call up. Once he has nailed down his position (which i still think will be centre back), he could be a really good player capable of playing top flight football. One of only 3 or 4 players in our first team squad who i think has potential to go for big money at some point.

Irish football twitter had him as their man of the match. Compared to a pre Man City John Stones.

We are asking a lot of Dara, but I think he has real potential.  It is tough going though in our defence at the moment.  Just keep your focus Dara.
