Oh well. Lessons being learned early.

This time last season we had 1 point in the league and won in the cup. This year 4 points and lost in the cup.

Didn't really want to go on.
It's only the league cup.
Well, I think that was the attitude displayed unfortunately.

Poor performance. We pass the ball well but that is it. 3 games, 4 goals - 3 were keeper error and 1 was an own goal.

Poor subs by Bilic, overloaded midfield with passing midfielders but no cutting edge.

Really lacking up front and worry we could be in for a frustrating season, being picked off on the counter and at set pieces.

Worrying. Very worrying.

I didn't watch the game so I can't comment, but perhaps it's a good thing in the long-run. I know people love a good cup run but last season I thought it really harmed us in the league and I remember Brighton in particular made the players tired and it all seemed a waste of time at that point.

After playing Milwall twice in a row and losing 3-2 on aggregate, we now have a better picture of our strengths and weaknesses. Hopefully this week we will be working on more aggression with the ball as a result.

My dreams for the season have been shattered already. Not really, but the sooner we are able to field a settled side the better.

Once Pereira is up to spend I will be suprised if we see Burke in an Albion shirt again.

Complete waste of time having him on the pitch, has zero footballing brain.

It’s a particular shame because with our supposedly good squad depth this season we could have probably done with the extra games.

So after 3 hours football at home to Millwall, a team who avoided league 1 by 1 place, we draw 1-1 and lose 1-2.  Millwall have no money and rely on picking up other teams cast offs for about £200k or frees.

I don't know about anyone else, I think the outcome is appalling and a disgrace.  There are clearly serious issues there already.  Nobody knows (with 9 incoming players) why the following have been retained; HRK, Burke, Livermore, Brunt and possibly Barry yet.

Millwall clearly wanted it more in both games and scored simple goals.  Why didn't we pulverise them at 1-0?  Where is the leadership?  Just embarrassing.

Slaven is exonerated.  It's up to the players to deliver.  They lack aggression and personality and seem unable to be comfortable playing on the front foot.

That's really poor. We've failed to beat a bog standard hoofball team after 2 attempts. We could do with playing a few footballing teams because we look really soft and are struggling to break down the deep defence at present.

Take Austin out of this squad and we have no goals in us at all... Only positive tonight is that captain of the reserves won't be seen much now just a liability

Worrying has to be the word. Lots of nice passing but very little threat at one end and a shambles at the other. They had 6 corners and could have scored from pretty much all of them. You just can't defend set pieces like the last two games and keep clean sheets, question is, do we have the firepower t outscore the opposition? I certainly hope so and thank God for Austin's goal, a few of the others need to start chipping in now though.
Only a Mickey mouse  cup game and not a priority so, win at Luton and all will be forgiven, disappointing though.

Didn't watch the game, but sounds like an early wake up call. If we've got problems in the scoring department, Burke sounds like the last person who is going to solve them. Also, what's going on in defence with all these goals conceded from set pieces?

I think we've had a pretty decent window overall but the lack of decent striking options is worrying. We've had all summer to sort this out.

I’m not going to jump off a cliff just yet I think a front line of Austin, Phillips & Edwards / Pereira has that quality in the final 3rd that we are really missing at the moment. My big worry is the depth behind those 3 though as we know Phillips will miss 30% of the season and we’l do well to keep Austin fit all year as well.

Thought it was a strange decision to not have Ken on the bench tonight Burke isn’t a striker in a million years (not much of a winger either). Move on but we need the new signings to bed in quickly, we really should be looking to pick up 3 points Saturday.

Two performances against a stubborn Millwall team - both at home too - and we have looked really, really poor.

It is clear Burke cannot play upfront on his own, especially when playing against a team that sits in deep, when he is required to hold up the ball.

Suddenly, after dominating corners against Forest, we now can't defend one to save our lives. It's not like we're lacking the height in the team either.

Expecting much, much better against Luton on Saturday.

Needs to stop zonal in corners. O Shea doesn’t look very tall for a cb  :-X

Hope Austin wasn’t injured when he went off  :o

I’ve a bad feeling Gayle turning us down will haunt us. Only Charlie can save us.

Looks like we will struggle for goals this season not a surprise when you take out 54 goals from last year. Austins not match fit so sensible to bring up to speed gradually but scratching head that either HRK or 8mill bloke wasn't on bench.

we also need to tighten up at the back so we are less reliant on goals scored. we've kept 1 clean sheet in our last 10 competitive matches.
