With 6 games in what 18 days? We will need to rotate, Rotherham are dreadful so expect 4 or 5 changes to be honest, we may wait until the home games in Christmas week but I feel Wigan and Sheffield Weds are stronger than Rotherham.

We simply cannot afford to take that approach. You cannot underestimate any team in this league, no result is a given.

One game at a time.

We will have to rotate before the cup match. Rotherham is still the best case scenario for me of the 4 teams we will play before then.

We won't.

We may play Morrison (or Brunt possibly) and rest Barry (or vise verse, whichever way you look at it) but that's about it. Other than that the first choices will play all games where fit and available.

I know it is but there's no way the club will compromise league points. It's a punishing schedule but that's the Championship for you.

The only other change we will readily make is HRK coming in at some point. If there's any compromising to be done, sadly, it'll more likely be for the FA Cup tie.

Out of interest what team would you pick for Rotherham?

Johnstone

Mears
Dawson
Hegazi
Gibbs

Phillips
Livermore
Morrison

Sako
Gayle
Burke

Bench includes Barnes, Barry, Brunt etc.

After those 4 games in 10 days we've got a cup match (which doesn't really matter) but following that is our biggest game of the season to date.

You may be right but I very much doubt it. You're changing all of our front three in one go for a League fixture (admittedly Gayle only positionally). That would be a gigantic risk to take.

I can't see any changes for this one. We will have had ample rest for it. The games after Xmas you might see Barry switched out for Morrison etc.

It's about using subs well in the games when they come thick and fast. Making sure the likes of Gibbs and Phillips who have histories of niggling injuries are given rests towards the end of games.
O Albion we love you

Rotherham are pretty strong at home, certainly not dreadful (their away form is dreadful). They've lost once at home all season (back in August to Hull) since then they've drawn 6 and won 4.

I would start with the team that played Sheffield U.;  play possession like in the second half  to take the initial brio out of the home side / crowd but monitor the likes of Phillips, Barry etc closely and substitute when they are tiring or about 60 mins.  Not sure about Townsend, might swap Brunt in at LB if Gibbs needs a rest.   But with fixture congestion subs have to be used else how are we to cope if players are injured and the bench has no game time experience?

We really have to win this and next 2 at home if we want to hang onto the top two's coat-tails

Definitely agree with this, on paper we have a good xmas run. 2 wins at home and two draws away it’s minimal. At least win the next 3 and I would then definitely be happy with a point at Blackburn

That result wouldn't surprise me.  We've rode our luck the last few games, 2-1s away from home and the Dodgy villa equaliser

No disrespect to Rotherham, but if we are aiming for automatic promotion, we HAVE to be going to these places and picking up 3 points.

Saying that though, it is the Albion afterall, we have already 'slipped' up a couple of times this year against teams we would expect to be beating.

No point beating Sheffield United away if you don't follow it up with a win against an extremely poor side.

Just hope not to see a Wigan/Hull etc performance.

They are not extremely poor at home though, they have only lost 1 game at home (to Hull back in August). They have lost 2 of the last 12 games (both away to Norwich and Blues) but have drawn 9 of those remaining 10 games, Swansea at home being the 1 victory. They have lost 3 more games than us so far this season.

I do think we will win but a draw wouldn't surprise me given their home form.

If we have any intentions of making the top two this is a must win especially with leeds away at the Vile.
