Didn't Slaven say six weeks for Hegazi in one of his interviews?

September was mentioned

Wrap him up in cotton wool.

No need to rush his recovery.

He's vital to us.

I like Hegazi but is he going to solve all of our problems? For me no. He's been part of a defence that has shipped goals for fun over the last 2 seasons. A new keeper would see a vast improvement IMO.

Agreed. He's had Dawson, Bartley, Johnstone among his back line. Egypt in ACON conceded one goal I think. Hegazi is class but he's not god he needs quality around him like anyone else. While we have Bartley and Johnstone as regular starters we will always concede more goals than ideal.

He’s a class centre half for me

Isn't there also a new unknown to add to this equation? We are clearly working on a new midfield strategy which will hopefully make opposition midfields have to do a greater defensive job themselves and so prevent them landing on our back four in waves as they seemed to do for most of last season

That's so true.  I think it was Johan Cruyff who said the opposition can't scoe if you're in possession of the ball.

I have to keep remembering when you say centre half you mean central defence.

In Oz, a centre half has always been in midfield.

Maybe that’s why we’re so far behind you guys.  :D

Yes this as well mate. Last season we didn't have the legs in midfield AND we couldn't keep possession of the ball for long periods. Put these two issues together and you've no way of being solid unless as a team you defend the edge of your box and put everybody behind the ball.
