End of season Theme 2017 Palace Away
« on: December 20, 2016, 02:27:04 PM »
Folks shock horror i hear you say, still another 5 months and all that. this is traditionally the time of year to start thinking about fancy dress ay it.

Swansea away this time around. For me we should honour Olsson either home or away, a club hero and most likely his last season with us.

suggestions of yours on a postie

The poppies one is fantastic. Would really get the national press behind us aswell, could be a great idea.

Nothing "fancy dress" though i hope. Just a normal poppy on everybody's chest - lets not forget the real meaning of them.

I know its a Baggies thing but If the poppy idea was to be the choice of end of season theme would`nt it be a good idea to try and get ALL BRITISH CLUBS INVOLVED as all the British FA`s were fined for supporting our war hero`s or if you wanted to keep the Baggies end of season tradition do the poppy theme at another match and try to get all clubs involved. Thoughts anybody

I am liking this even more and it started here first......a solid message to the FA and FIFA.

with the poppies thought does anyone think stewards would tell you to take them off before entering the ground

If every home game across britain on a given weekend fans refused to enter unless they were allowed to wear their poppies, the clubs would bend.
No club would want to antagonise the fan base on this (Celtic / Hibs excepted)
Lovin the championship, just lovin it !

Excellent Idea though.

This for the last away game or home game? cant help feeling we should do this at home games and honour Jonas at the away game though.

Under whose authority? I think that if it went national and there really was a reason put out as to why it could not be done, then we would know about it beforehand. We could wear poppies 365 days of the year before FIFA decided to poke their corrupt little noses in.......

It won't work I'm afraid.

I made a similar suggestion last year to honour Brunt, McAuley and Evans before their European adventure. I was told it would split the fan base and cause arguments over James McClean   ::)

You still can wear a poppy 365/6 days a year if you want to.
FIFA rules only cover FIFA tournaments. They have no power over the premier league hence why teams do honour the war dead in November.

Wearing a poppy badge wont do any good we need poppy banners so the world can see, but cant see Swansea letting us in with them.

I must admit I've never like the 'theme' idea.

To me, beach stuff & stupid costumes wins it every time.

or, and it may have been suggested further up but, all go in traditional Chinese dress.

DOH! Having a poppy theme in May to prove a point turns the poppy into a political symbol.

Which is exactly what FIFA have been saying

There have been some awful shouts on this site in the past for end of season themes but poppies has to be the worst.

Poppies are a poor shout. The whole point of it is that its supposed to be a dignified symbol of remembrance. As soon as you start wearing them to 'send a message' all you're doing is proving FIFA's argument right really.

Also, the Premier League matches aren't governed by FIFA so it's completely pointless anyway.
